Happy Monday folks. I hope you have had a super lovely weekend. If you’re feeling the Monday blues this morning, fret no longer, this bright and beautiful country wedding will be sure to lift your spirits. Yippee.
Beth and Dan were married on the 17th September 2016 in a church service followed by a marquee reception in Beth’s parents field. The setting was out of this world, the views sublime and as a bonus the sun was shining too. It complimented their flowery theme perfectly, with wild blooms used everywhere wonderfully. The pale pink colour scheme was just so pretty, think delightful hanging lanterns, patterned bunting and sweet bridesmaid dresses.
The couple looked gorgeous too. Beth wore an open back lace gown with a long veil and a stunning twist hair do. Dan meanwhile went for a grey tweed suit and black tie, perfectly timeless and handsome.
Thanks so much to Maddie Farris Photography for sharing these sublime shots with us.
THE PROPOSAL | At home! Not what I expected! I was taking my nephew to the cinema one Saturday morning then planned to go riding later that day, Dan asked me to be home for 2 but as usual time ran away with me and I ended up bursting through the door at 6pm!! There was a gorgeous bouquet on the side and a bottle of champagne and I didn’t no what was going on! Not quite how I imaged being proposed to in (in my jodhpurs and stinking of horses) but was really special and meant we could have all our friends round to celebrate with us that evening and the following day to drink the umpteen bottles of prosseco Dan had bought in!
THE VISION | We both really wanted to have the wedding as close to home as possible so we could have all our friends and family to celebrate with us! We were lucky enough to be able to have a marquee in my mum and dad’s field where we had an amazing day with the most beautiful views! I have a very crafty mum and mother in law who has some amazingly talented friends who helped us to create a beautiful country flowery theme!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We got engaged just over a year before we got married and the time flew by! I really enjoyed planning the wedding and (think) I was a pretty laid back bride! I certainly couldn’t have done it with out Dan and my bridesmaids by my side and all our wonderful friends! Have to say a special thank you to my dad and brothers who spent hours levelling off a hilly field to accommodate a marquee!
THE VENUE | As I said above the venue was at my mum and dad house! We managed to transform what was quite a scruffy hilly field full of my brother’s plant and machinery in to a beautiful wedding venue! It was so nice to have it at home as the majority of our friends live locally so meant we could all roll home when the day was done!
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress came from Ava Rose Hamilton in Silsden! The shop was over an hour away from home but so many people had recommended it we thought we had to go and see! There were so many dresses and the service was brilliant from choosing the dress to finally taking it home! I would definitely recommend!
THE READINGS & MUSIC | The music was really important to us as we wanted to make sure it got everyone on to the dance floor! We ended up spending a large chunk of our budget on hiring Funk Soul Family, a band from Manchester! It was definitely worth it! By day they were a modern strings 4 piece called Strings Attached who entertained our guests in the church (whilst I was running fashionably late) and again whilst we had welcome drinks in the sunshine. The evening was a 5 piece funk band who kept our guest dancing all night!
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had 5 amazing bridesmaids, my two sisters and 2 best friends. They made sure I felt special for the entire (year) leading to the wedding, organising me an amazing week long hen do with all my friends in Ibiza and just been at my beck and call whenever I needed them!
THE FLOWERS | As the wedding was at home we wanted a laid back country style so decided to have wild flowers. They were grown in a walled garden in North Yorkshire by a company called Blooming Yorkshire and were arranged in to jars by Dan’s friends and family. Family friends also brought us loads of beautiful hydrangeas from their garden which looked stunning dotted around the marquee.
THE CAKE | We opted against having a traditional cake and instead went for one made of cheese! Our lovely friend at our local pub put it together for us and it looked fantastic! It went down brilliantly with our guests and was a gorgeous late night dance floor snack!
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Maddie did an absolutely amazing job. She was a total trooper arriving first thing in the morning and leaving late in to the evening reception! This meant she was able to capture all the best moments of the day in her natural and relaxed style.
THE HONEYMOON | We spent a few days relaxing after the wedding in Mallorca in a gorgeous boutique hotel. The main event wasn’t until February where we spent 3 weeks road tripping around the North and South Island off New Zealand.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | We both enjoyed every moment of the day however my twin sister doing a surprise speech during the reception and the moment all my hens ran to the dance floor when the band played our favourite song from the hen do!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | It really is true when people say it will fly by! Make sure you take a few moments together to just take it all in!
