I cannot gush enough about how much I love this couple today and their super sweet elopement.
Mikey and Caroline chose to tie the knot on the 3rd November 2015 in a secret ceremony. They opted to hold their day and week long honeymoon at The Beacon House in Whitstable, a place that holds special memories for Caroline. The setting and views were stunning, which made for the loveliest portraits by their photographer Chris.
Let’s talk about how awesome these two looked? Mikey wore a blue suit by Moss while Caroline donned a dreamy gown teamed with statement glasses, flower crown and leather jacket. LOVE.
Thanks goes to the brilliant Chris Barber Photography for sharing these fantastic images with us.
THE VISION | Oh it had to be a secret wedding! No stress at all, very exciting, no fuss and to enjoy every single second of it and most of all our wedding was to represent our personalities and to find a photographer who could capture all of this – this literally was our vision.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We felt very strongly that our wedding would be just for us and my daughter Rhianna, we did not feel we needed to have an expensive wedding but spending our money where it counted which was the venue and photographer. Finding the venue was easy, I have known about the Beacon House since I was a little girl as my parents used to take me to Whitstable and I had only ever seen the outside of the Beacon House and I just fell in love with it, Whitstable has wonderful memories for me growing up so when it come to getting married there could be no other place we wanted to be saying our vows. I love the seaside and I’m a real seaside girl and lucky for me Mikey is too (not a girl of course)!
THE VENUE | The Beacon House, Whitstable.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was from Alta Costura Bride.
My beaded sash was from Etsy.
My flower crown was from Etsy.
My leather jacket was from AllSaints.
FINDING THE DRESS | I had tried on a few dresses but they didn’t suit me.. The lovely young lady in the shop went upstairs and bought a dress down to me and said try this on, she said it’s unfinished but I think this will look beautiful on you.
I tried the dress on and it was stunning, it was the one! OK, it was too long, was too big, really only had the top part attached to the bottom (skirt) but I knew I could make it personal to me and most of all it was half the price of any of the other dresses ha ha. It was perfect and my wonderful friend Ella said I could take the dress to her house and a friend of hers Yvonne Gilbert who does dress making will finish the dress for me (I have amazing friends). Yvonne is who really made the dress and made all the alterations and spent months making the dress to the beautiful dress that it is – amazing lady and I can’t thank her enough.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Suit and tie was from Moss Bros.
Cuff-links: Bought and Personalised at Etsy.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | The song which I walked down the aisle to was by: Cary Brothers – Cant’ take my eyes off you.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | And she was beautiful! My daughter Rhianna Rowe was my bridesmaid and she gave me away. Rhianna’s dress was from Coast.
Our beautiful witness was Laura Mitchell and our lovely bestman was Mark Greenstreet.
THE FLOWERS | All from: Jane at Graham Greener:
Jane probably had one of the hardest tasks to do for me… One that was particularly emotional and painful at the time. Sadly at the beginning of 2015 we were told my niece was dying, Hayley sadly passed away on the 01st June 2015, watching Hayley pass was one of the hardest day’s of my life and no words can still express how I feel. Hayley was an inspirational young woman who truly inspired us all with her spirit and courage and we wanted a special part of Hayley with us on our day, my nan had also had not long passed away so I decided to have 2 silver hearts engraved in memory of them and for Jane to somehow put these onto my bouquet so I can walk down the aisle with them both close to me.
As you can imagine when I met Jane to give her the hearts I was very emotional and she was so very kind and patient to me. I’m ever so grateful to her and I will never forget her kindness, Chris Barber has taken some wonderful photo’s of my bouquet with the silver hearts on – wonderful memories for me to keep, these things (which Jane & Chris probably don’t realise) have helped my small steps in grieving for my loved ones.
THE CAKE | Our wonderful gluten free Victoria Sandwhich cake was made by our amazing friend Ann Strike.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The awesomely talented Chris Barber.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | All from our own home or from Etsy.
THE HONEYMOON | A whole week at The Beacon House.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | When we arrived at The Beacon House the night before our wedding and Mikey realised he had forgotten his cuff-links!!! They were bought for him from Rhianna and were personalised so there was no way he was getting married without them he said, he drove all the way home again (in the fog) to get them – all I can say is lucky we only live 45 min away.
Another memorable moment, was we locked ourselves out of The Beacon House ha ha ha! Oh dear just thinking of it makes me laugh… We thought we had to use the big doors at the front of the house to go in and out of, well we soon found out that was not the case, it was the small door by the kitchen but we only realised this when we couldn’t get back in the house (lucky we were dressed)! So, we went up to the hotel and eat breakfast while I phoned the home owner and we arranged for the locksmith to come and let us in – that was an extra £50 we had to spend on the wedding we didn’t budget for lol! We felt rather embarrassed at the time but it is one of our funny memorable moments as this happened the day after we got married.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Sounds cliché I know but it really is a day for you and your husband, never lose your reason’s why you are getting married and never feel pressured to have a wedding for everyone else, we knew years ago how we wanted to get married and we stuck to it, our wedding felt so relaxed it was totally our perfect day..
