Balloon Wedding Ideas
I love creating balloon displays and trying new things and that’s where the idea of this shoot came. I always wanted to incorporate industrial style all the metals and geometric designs with my balloons and to create something romantic and elegant.
When I visited The Hayloft with Chloe from Kennedy Events I knew I had to use their lighting installation and suspend balloons with flowers.
My aim was to show that wedding balloons can be a fabulous flourish. The mixture of red, pink and copper hues look striking against the barn’s walls and ceiling, making a real focal point as you enter the ceremony and reception. We have also used balloons on the arch together with Jenny from Goldfinch Floral Studio and on the seating plan.
Chloe from Kennedy events has always loved transforming unusual spaces into great venues and The Hayloft at Stoke St Gregory, Somerset, provides the perfect backdrop for this industrial styled shoot. Chloe used the natural raw elements of the farm and teamed them with contrasting textures, whilst a pop of colour is added in the shape of the balloon chandelier and flowers, bringing a feminine touch to this industrious space. Soft lighting in the form of candlelight provided an intimate atmosphere to the once derelict barn. Reclaimed wood, repurposed vintage items and recycled glass, provide the subtle nod to caring for our planet, whilst respecting our heritage down on the farm in Somerset.
The Lucky Sixpence specialises in creating unique one of a kind head pieces designed and created by hand to suit a brief. These custom made items means that they not only suit the brides style but tie in elements of the dress, styling and other accessories. Last year they created a set of geometric pins which worked brilliantly layered up or worn individually. They have evolved them by mixing metal tones and adding contemporary leaf shapes. To tie in with these geometric leaf pins they then created an additional set of pins which included the same leaf pieces but delicate hand beaded leaves and flower shapes. The two sets complement each other and can be mixed and matched and layered up together. These pins were ideal for the shoot as they tied in with the stunning ceremony arch, cake and copper colour palette.
Jenny has used a colour palette of peach and apricot roses with a splash of hot pink spray roses and acid yellow frilly cloni ranunculus. The foliage was a mix of tropical leaves, some of which I sprayed rose gold to add a modern twist. I added drama to the arrangements with fresh and dyed black pampas grasses. Goldfinch flower installations were everywhere, from hanging balloon ceilings to a floral packed top table and whimsical bouquets as well as an arch.
Marie wanted to create a look for the bride that was modern and stylish, opting for a gorgeous silk crepe that falls beautifully, whilst also being practical and comfortable for wearing all day. For barn weddings it’s a good idea to consider whether the outfit is going to suit your surroundings. Two piece bridal wear is a highly fashionable choice right now as it’s versatile and chic whilst still giving a beautiful bridal look.
Looking for a photographer for our shoot I knew we had to get Leesha in our team. Her style is fun, alternative and beautiful. She is very creative and pays attention to all the little details. Just look at those images and see for yourself.
We have decided to use Harry three piece suit from Suave Owl. Sky blue with navy and pink check detail 3-piece set was perfect for our shoot. The refined cut ensures an elegant look without feeling restrictive.
We decided to go for geometric rose gold rings by Molten. They are ethical, luxurious and timeless with a modern twist.
The nails needed to be simplistic and beautiful; classic but with a modern twist. Having seen the gorgeous metallic accents Veil The Nail chose a subtle rose gold glitter shade for the bride to complement.
Our hair and makeup stylist Gemma did a combo waterfall braids with relaxed curls. We wanted to create a beautiful, natural and long lasting hair and make-up look for our model to perfectly compliment her natural beauty and personal style as well.
Finding a perfect venue took me over a month. I knew the place must be perfect and The Hayloft Somerset surely is one of its kind. Venue was infusing vintage and rustic elements itself. Exposed stone walls were an ideal backdrop. Their suspended ceiling lighting with Edison light bulbs is definitely a wow factor. We have also used one of their handmade tables. This place is full of surprises; full time working farm with over 500 cows and treasures hidden everywhere you look.
Make Me Digital created an enticing invitation suite with a bold copper geometric design to tie in with the theme. The design also popped with touches of copper leaf, silk tassels and hand dyed silk ribbons to tie them all together.
For this shoot I knew I needed amazing metal masterpieces and Floral fabrications are perfect in their professions. Within a day they were able to create a beautiful stand for our cake. They also supplied plinths and table plan mesh stands. It was modern with an edge.
Tib designed a masterpiece. Her 3 layered cake fit in perfectly with our theme. Geometric design in copper worked beautifully with black colours of the cake. Wood elements and white top finished with sugar roses created a very romantic look.
Neon signs are definitely a hit for 2020 weddings and I knew I had to have one in our shoot. It was a perfect backdrop for a reception. It certainly added a real focal point to the shoot, with the rustic cool Whiskey Bar display also setting up the vibe perfectly.
Wedding videography styles vary and often follow fashions. At Powerhouse Byron have a distinctively natural, modern and romantic look to all of his videos and he favours vibrant colours rather than the washed-out effect many videographers are currently using. It was perfect for our shoot.
