Today’s real wedding is simply jam-packed with sparkle and joy, I think you’re simply going to love it! WWW readers Gareth and Jamie wanted a classy elegant winter wedding full of glitz and wow, I think this is exactly what they achieved with their wonderful nuptials held at Askham Hall on the 16th December 2017.
Tiree Dawson has captured all the sparkle just brilliantly, thank you so much for sharing Tiree.
Lighting was incredibly important for this winter wedding and I really can’t get enough of the pealight curtains, fairy lights, candles and of course sparklers! The look is finished off perfectly with sequinned table cloths, beautifully personalised wooden signs and some subtle seasonal touches.
Lots of our couples describe how quickly the day flies by and Gareth and Jamie agree, read on for their advice on this – wise words indeed.
THE PROPOSAL | Gareth proposed to Jamie on the 16th September 2015 with the help of Kai the dolphin in discovery cove, Orlando.
THE VISION | We wanted our wedding to elegant and wintry but still was very us with the added wow factor. We both love Christmas so we wanted to create a winter feel and look without any of the usual Christmas references. We wanted to use lots lights to create a more subtle and candlelit feel.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We both agreed that we wanted a winter wedding and started researching wedding venues pretty much straight after we got engaged. Ironically our venue Askham Hall was the very first place we viewed, we fell pretty much fell in love the place. Our chosen date was available and soon after we booked. Our venue was really helpful in providing recommended supplier lists, some of which we used. We then had about 14 months to research and book the rest of our suppliers and all the other finishing touches before the big day.
BUDGET | We never really set ourselves a budget, we just kept control of things along the way.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The whole day was truly memorable! A single day in our life where everyone we cared about was with us celebrating our marriage. We could not have wished for more. Even our choice of suppliers from venue to photographer was perfect. They all helped make our day truly memorable.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Stick to your vision and goal when planning your day and don’t let anyone try to change your mind with alternative options that you might not be happy with. You only do this day once so doing everything the way you want to make you happy on the day is key. One last tip would be try to be as organised as possible in advance to avoid the stress on the actual wedding day. Also anything you can to do to slow the day down is important as it will go by in the blink of an eye and before you know it the best day of your life is only a memory.
