We are thrilled to have Chris and Sarah with us today sharing their utterly beautiful wedding day, which was held on the 20th October 2018 at Abbeydale Picture House in Sheffield. Their wedding planning was kept simple, with a relaxed day in mind and they took just 7 months to organise everything. The results? Just breathtaking.
First up, how much do I love Sarah’s wedding dress!? Oh my! The pockets, the low back, the sleeves, swoon! Then there was Chris’ burgundy suit, which was so stylish and modern. The rest of the wedding party were free to choose their own outfits, adding to the laid back vibes.
I love that they were married in the cinema and they made full use of the screen too, which sounds just brilliant. There were some really amazing florals in red and burgundy hues, not to mention an industrial feel reception room filled with greenery garlands and candles.
We have We Are Da Silva to thank for sharing with us these incredible images. I love them all.
The Proposal
We decided as a couple that we wanted to get married.
The Vision
To have a relaxed day that everyone would enjoy – with a little old cinema magic.
The Planning Process
No massive process just ticking off things that we needed to organise.
The Venue
Abbeydale Picture House in Sheffield.
(Inner City Weddings are the venue organisers)
Your Outfits & Accessories
Dress from Blushes Bridal Studio – I was struggling to trying to find a simple satin gown with long sleeves and these guys were so helpful and made it happen with a dress I loved.
Suit was from Asos – Chris wanted a burgundy suit and they had one that fit the bill.
Beauty
My talented friend did my hair.
Makeup was by Polly Jenson who was so lovely and helpful and did a great job of making us all look good.
The Readings & Music
I made karaoke lyrics over a Chris Staples song/video that was on the big cinema screen that everyone sung along to during the ceremony.
The Flowers
Beautiful bouquet, button holes, a bridesmaid hoop for my niece, two trees (one that we kept and one that went to my sister) some meadow like flowers down the aisle and eucalyptus/flowers arranged down the tables all provided by Karen at Meadows and Mulberry – she was so helpful and wonderful to work with and was super organised. The flowers looked amazing and lasted for ages afterwards too.
Your Photographer
Jess Petrie (Jess and Rod) These guys are amazing – so friendly and put us at ease – we are not people who feel natural in front of the camera and they got some great shots. Plus they didn’t make us spend too long off taking photos when we wanted to be inside saying hello to everyone.
Groomsmen
Everyone could wear what they wanted – there wasn’t a theme/colour, so many wore their own wedding suits or other suits they had.
Bridesmaids
Again there was no colour/theme so everyone wore what they wanted – and looked very lovely!
The Cake
We didn’t have a cake. We had a dessert of different cruffins (croissant/muffins) from Cawa Coffee Bakery. Absolutely delicious!
The Details & Décor
We had lots of candles and popcorn.
I love the cinema so fully embraced the chance to use the big screen – we made lots of things that we projected onto the screen – cinema clips, dancing videos, a message from a friend far away, an amazing firework display I came across online from the night we got engaged, and lots of amazing music videos.
Food was done by the Real Junk Food Project – who were really helpful and amazing – and it was delicious.
Late night pizza was from Proove – their pizzas never disappoint.
We had a friend (who is a DJ) do most of the music later on and Chris, myself and a couple of other mates DJ’d or played some music too.
The Honeymoon
We had just had a whole year away travelling not long before, so we went on a lovely weekend to Edinburgh.
Memorable Moments
The whole day was great, getting to be in a room with most of the people you love in the world and have them celebrating with you is just lovely.
Walking down the cinema aisle for the actual ceremony was so emotional – the cinema looked so magical and I was really happy to be marrying Chris.
Advice For Other Couples
We didn’t want a long engagement and the whole planning process to be going on forever so we got engaged in March and married in October and that worked really well for us. I think in general do whatever makes you happy and try to enjoy it all as much as possible as it’s only one day and it’s over before you know it – I’d love to have the day again.
