Lets have a gorgeous love story to end the week, and some pretty photographs to boot ;-)
Ellie and Joe met at a theme park and six years later Joe popped the question at a hook a duck stand at the fairground… amazing!
For their engagement shoot they headed to beautiful woodland, where Ellie wore her mothers gorgeous wedding dress with flowers in her hair while Joe donned his favourite drainpipe trousers. Love it.
Thanks so much to the wonderful Raw Photographers for sharing their images with us today.
Ellie told me; “Joe and I met when we were 19 at a theme park whilst waiting in the longest queue. We got chatting and exchanged numbers and then after a few days of texting and persuasiveness from Joe I agreed to go on a date with him! The chemistry was instant and we realised that we had quite a lot in common other than our love for theme parks! Five years later we moved in together after both completing university degrees at separate locations.”
“After a year of living together we discovered that despite each others bad habits we both couldn’t think of anyone else we’d rather live with and then on an impromptu night out to a local fairground, Joe proposed – it was really sweet as he wanted to recreate the first time we met 6 years ago at a theme park. I was totally blown away when I paid for 5 goes on ‘hook a duck’ and one of the prizes was a big sparkly engagement ring as opposed to a couple of goldfish! Joe slyly asked the fairground attendent to surreptitiously hide my ring amongst the other prizes and give it to me on my fifth go! Of course I said yes…oh and walked away with a couple of goldfish!”
“The engagement shoot was so much fun. I love taking anything vintage and mixing it up with my own style which is why I had the idea to dig out my mums 1960’s wedding dress and put my own touches to it. She wore a big hooded lace coat with a satin dress which is really elaborate. I put a twist on the traditional head dress and replaced this with a gorgeous head garland adorned with fresh white flowers and thistles for that bohemian look. My make up was typically me – gothic with smokey eyes and rich red lipstick. Joe wore his favourite drainpipe trousers for that Mod 70’s revival look.”
“We are getting married in March 2014 and although we haven’t chosen a venue yet we both have a clear idea of what we want – the theme for our day is ‘fun’ so we are just going to have one great big party in a huge marquee with none of the traditional formalities. There will be a hog roast, crazy photo booth for our guests, dodgems, a candy floss machine and most importantly, hook a duck for anyone else that wants to steal Joe’s original proposal.”
Wow wee, so so gorgeous. I cannot wait to see their wedding already!! Thanks so much for sharing guys XOXO Lou
