This couple are amazing. They had the most chic and unique wedding, with their own ethos. They wanted a fuss free, freedom wedding, on a budget. Where the day was all about the love between themselves and their family. They kept things very simple, with Hayley wearing the most fabulous original 1960s yellow shift dress that was only £30!! Wow weee… doesn’t she look amazing.
I so love the cute bunting, balloons, the no formal shots, the sunny gerberas and the quirky cakes….
Thanks so much to the amazing UK wedding photographer, Joanna Millington Photography, here is what she had to say about the day;
“Let me start by saying that I have never, ever been to such a laid back, chilled, and easy wedding in all my life. And in my opinion that pretty much sums up Hayley and Neil. After Neil had proposed to Hayley (in a layby) they had spent months discussing various ideas and plans for their wedding day. Finally they decided that all they really wanted was to be married, Mr & Mrs, and to have a handful of their favourite people around to share it with them. And that’s exactly what they did. An emotional ceremony, a hilarious walk through the streets of Norwich to the beautiful Plantation Gardens (Neil is a landscape gardener), photos, coffee (Hayley is the top female barista in the UK and owns a coffee shop), and a toss of the bouquet. Then we all rambled over to their favourite pub The Plough, some stopping for sausage rolls en route, where we were greeted with elderflower mojitos and burgers. Good friends surprised them with flowers and cakes, and Canadian dollars were slipped into their pockets ready for their honeymoon. It was the most perfect day. Friday and Sunday had been full of showers, but on this day the sun shone from beginning to end. Hayley told me she always believed if you honestly think everything will be ok, it usually is. I have a feeling Mr & Mrs Gosling are in for a beautiful marriage x”
Hayley and Neil
In a layby on the A140 in the snow – very unexpected!
The Vision for the day….
Colour, freedom, relaxation – start as we mean to go on. No fuss, simplicity and loved ones. Daisies. Outside.
The Planning process….
Simple really – book registry office, organise BBQ, my illustrator friend to design invitations , chose a dress. Done. No extras. No fancy things. Less stress and more smiles.
The Plough Norwich – beautiful, big, beer garden. Bunting and herbs growing (which they use in the cocktails).
The Dress + Accessories…..
Sixties yellow dress. White shoes. Aim – to find a sunshine dress. I had a white daisy trim put onto the dress – another favour from another great friend.
Finding the dress….
My local vintage shop – Prim. £30
We’re very opposite – Neil wore a Vivienne Westwood suit.
The Readings + Music….
No readings. We preferred silence.
Brought from Norwich market the day before! Orange gebrias. Sunshine flowers.
No cake but a friend turned up with lemon and poppy seed buns!
The wonderful Joanna Millington. We believe Jo has her very own unique style. She also fitted into the day perfectly with great conversation and giggles. Captured the day perfectly.
The Details + Decor….
Borrowed yellow and white daisy bunting. Which the landlord of The Plough put up for us. We were very lucky to have a magician friend – magic while people sipped their ale and elderflower mojitos. Our rings were made by another friend .
Toronto. Stayed with friends, drank coffee, laughed a lot , sat in parks and wandered the streets..in love…
Neil looking SO gorgeous in his suit. Feeling euphoria the whole day. Saying my vows and feeling silly! Drinking a shot of very expensive tequila – worth £20.
Advice for other couples…
Less is more.
