My oh my, i am spoiling you this fab Friday afternoon :-) the perfect ending to another great week on this here wedding blog ;-) I adore these little paper cranes that keep popping up, the fabulous photography and doesn’t the food look scrumptious!!
Thanks so much again to Elemental Weddings for sharing their images today:
Our photographers, Christina and Jay from Elemental Weddings, were the first supplier we chose. I had seen another venue in a magazine and while doing a search on it I came across their work and knew straight away that I wanted them to photograph our wedding. They were wonderful to work with and we really enjoyed the shoot.
The Details + Decor….
We didn’t really have a theme but hung the 1000 paper cranes in the entrance hall and had others scattered throughout the rooms. As we didn’t want to distract from the beauty of the castle we just used some candles and fairy lights for further decoration.
The delicious three tier cake from Cakes by Design had chocolate sponge on the bottom layer, lemon sponge in the middle and fruit cake on the top. Rather than flowers or a bride and groom topper we made paper cranes which were placed on the top and around the base of the cake.
We loved the personal nature of our humanist ceremony. Towards the end of the ceremony we passed a Quaich filled with whisky from the local distillery between ourselves and our parents to signify the coming together of the two families.
As we’d arranged everything ourselves, it was great have everybody join us in the castle and enjoy the things that were special to us.
Advice for other couples…
All suppliers we dealt with were courteous and helpful however we spent considerable time deliberating some aspects of the wedding which became quite stressful. Your initial gut feeling is usually correct so have the confidence to speak up or change suppliers if you are not completely satisfied. The suppliers we ended up using were happy to accommodate all our requests and this helped the day turn out to be more wonderful than we could ever have hoped for.
We spent one week in a beautiful rustic cabana on the beach at Cabanas La Luna, Tulum, in Mexico where we split our time between relaxing and exploring the Mayan ruins and cenotes. This was followed by a wonderful week staying with friends in Houston.
Thanks so much to Jacqui and Glen for sharing their beautiful day with us today xoxo
