A Cosy, Sunshining Glasgow Engagement

I so love it when a {www} real life bride emails me excitedly about her wedding, and more specifically her engagement shoot. The lovely Rachel and Danny had a stunning engagement shoot in Glasgow, full of cosy fur and knits and of course that magic ingredient…. love.

I so love these beautiful images, and that sun glare… swoon.

Thanks so much to their photographers M M Photography for sharing their work with us.

Here is what Rachel had to say about herself and her boy;

“Danny and I are the same age and from the same town but as we went to different schools we didn’t meet until the summer after we finished school in 2001. I was working in the local night club as a glass collector and Danny was there for a night out with the boys. He spotted me and tried to talk to me, but I wasn’t interested because I was busy working. He persisted in bugging me until I told him my name and then he asked for my number – which I gave him because he was kinda cute! J

The proposal happened on Christmas morning 2010. I had just put the turkey in the oven and was sitting in my PJ’s, ill with the flu, having a lemsip and trying to muster the strength to get everything organised for our family coming for dinner. We were exchanging gifts and he gave me a big box – inside was a smaller box, inside that was an even smaller box and inside that was the ring. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and of course I said yes straight away! It was so lovely when our family and my best friend (and chief bridesmaid) arrived for Christmas dinner because we got to tell them the news and could all celebrate together!

We didn’t have any pictures taken on Christmas day because I felt so ill and looked a mess. So it was great to do the engagement shoot as it meant we could get some lovely professional pics together. We chose Glasgow’s West End and Botanic Gardens because we have a lot of happy memories there and love to wander round the shops and gardens together at the weekends. Mareike was great and we really love the shots she created!”

Thanks so much to Rachel and Danny for sharing their engagement story with us today xoxo Lou

  • Thanks for saying such lovely things about our shoot Lou. What a gorgeous day it was. You wouldn’t believe that the day before was torrential rain and gale force winds! We are not naturally posey/photogenic people so it just goes to show that a good photographer is worth their weight in gold! Can’t wait for July now – bring it on! :) x
