Happy Autumn everyone! We have now passed the one year mark and my to-do list definitely is not getting any smaller. Everyone keeps assuring me that I have loads of time, however we seem to have so much going on at the moment as well as planning the wedding that I am just so busy all the time! I’ve been a bridesmaid this month for a friend of mine (who is also one of my bridesmaids), and now our wedding is the next one in our calendar – eeeeeek! I’m hoping that I can continue to tick off at least a couple of bits each month. I’d like to avoid a last minute panic in the run up to the wedding, however I am increasingly suspecting that it’s impossible to avoid!
We attended the National Wedding Show in London in September, which was amazing. There was so much to see and so many suppliers to talk to. It was great to see just how much you can do with a wedding, as well as giving us some new ideas. We had a few things that we really wanted to achieve whilst there. Although I knew the wedding industry was huge, I don’t think I quite realised how huge! It was great though to see such a variety of brides to be there, and even a few grooms (much to Will’s relief!).
One of these things was to figure out where we wanted to go on our honeymoon. Given that our wedding is at the end of September, we wanted to find somewhere that was hot, but also somewhere a little unusual! Will and I have been so lucky to have travelled quite a bit already, we wanted to find somewhere that was new to both of us to make our first memories as newlyweds. I had pretty much written off anywhere in the Caribbean due to it being hurricane season there during the time of year we will be going. However William had different ideas! After speaking to multiple travel agents, and being assured that hurricane season does not mean it will rain 24/7, we decided on St. Lucia! Plus we managed to get an amazing bargain in the Sandals half price sale! I have been told that Sandals have these sales pretty regularly so if you are looking for a caribbean honeymoon but are on a smaller budget, I would definitely recommend checking their website every now and then. I am really pleased we’ve decided to go somewhere a bit further afield, I know it’ll probably be the last big holiday we will be able to do for a few years after the wedding.
Our other priority for the National Wedding Show was to look into suits. Will and I had pretty much decided that we wanted to buy him a new suit rather than renting. He is in need of a new suit anyway, and it really isn’t very often that we would feel comfortable allocating a bigger budget for a suit for him. So after looking at the few tailors who were at the Wedding Show and not really feeling inspired by any of them, we popped into Hugo Boss. The staff in there were so helpful and really worked with William to find the style and type of suit he was looking for. They are also able to tailor it to fit, which offers that little bit of personalisation. We were both really impressed with their service and would definitely recommend them! We will be returning to them in February to order the suit as Will didn’t want to order it quite yet as he is hoping to loose a little bit of weight.
I have also now bought my wedding shoes, eeeek! I have had my eye on the Rachel Simpson Mimosa for a few months now, and I saw that they had a 15% off offer one weekend and I just could not resist. I have bought them in powder blue, so they will be my something blue. Having them in blue will also make them really easy to wear after the wedding too, which was important to me. I absolutely love them! Now I just need to find a dress… I have my first dress shopping appointment in a couple of weeks time. I’m really nervous but also excited!
