Well well well, what a treat in store this afternoon folks. Another gorgeous village hall wedding for you today, this time the hall has a barn like vibe and the couple went for a fresh white classic theme. Stunning.
WWW readers Annie-Jane and Jake were married on the 13th August 2016 at Chilham Village Hall in Kent. The surrounding countryside was utterly beautiful and I especially love the shots in the orchards of the love birds. White blooms were used throughout and they worked so well against the bright blue floral bridesmaid dresses too. Shout out to WWW faves Alive Network who provided the rocking band for guests to dance the night away.
Annie-Jane chose a dreamy and romantic Naomi Neoh gown, which looked oh so amazing, while Jake donned a sharp blue suit by Hugo Boss. Such a stylish and loved up pair. Enjoy every single image and their wonderful report WWWers.
Livvy Hukins Photography, thank you so much for sharing these joyous photographs.
THE PROPOSAL | As I am originally from Blackpool and Jake from Folkestone we were having Christmas up in the north in the winter of 2013. I asked in the November if he needed any help with Christmas presents for me but he insisted he had sorted it all. We headed up to Blackpool on the 21st December to stay with my family. On the 22nd Jake told me to pack my bag as we were going away for a few nights. Excitedly I packed and got in the car to be told that we were going to stay at a boutique hotel that I had taken him to year before I headed off to do my ski season in Austria. The hotel was amazing in Bowness, Windermere. After a night and a day of relaxing and horse riding Jake informed me he had booked me in for a massage at the spa down the road as the hotel had double booked our room so he had to move us, I was instructed to ring him once I had finished so he could let me know what room they had put us in. As instructed I rang him on the way back from the spa and he met me outside. Jake then took me down some steps and asked me to close my eyes. Once led into what I guessed was a room I opened my eyes to their exclusive suite with a bed covered in roses, a bottle of champagne and a warm fire. Jake then went on to tell me that he had been lying and he had not brought me here for Christmas but to tell and show me how much he loved me, he then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him…. And the rest is history!
THE VISION | A relaxed, family, fun filled day!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We started to look at venues from around the March after our engagement. Once we had booked this I started to look at other areas and narrowed things down for Jake to look at also. We had just over 2 years to plan and I wanted to make sure we got a head start so we could have everything we wanted. We booked in the Wedding Dolls to help run our day – best bit of money we have every spent!
BUDGET | Around 10ish thousand.
THE VENUE | After a few weeks of looking at manor houses, barns and fields we came across the little gem of Chilham Village Hall, Chilham, Kent. It is a 15th century barn but is the local village hall in the grounds of Chilham Castle. We fell in love as soon as we arrived!!
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was a Naomi Neoh dress. It was a sample dress so we got it for the bargain price of £495!! My shoes were Jenny Packham in the sale from Debenhams. My earrings and bracelet were gifts from all my hens from Beaverbrooks!
FINDING THE DRESS | My dress story is a very long one….. but to cut it short I originally had a Ronald Joyce dress which I loved but when it came to the first fitting it just not fit me correctly and didn’t feel right. So we went on the hunt and came across the Naomi Neoh dress from Chilham Bridal Boutique.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Jake wore a 3 piece Hugo Boss suit in blue and his shoes were from Ted Baker.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Both our mums read for us during the ceremony.
Mother of the Bride – He’s not perfect by Bob Marley.
Mother of the Groom – Blue eyed devil by Lisa Kleypas.
Our local harpist Clare Houston played on entrance, during the ceremony and on the exit, which we loved and set a great tone for the day!
During the day we hired a PA system and got the Best Man to create a playlist for us.
In the evening we had a band called “Bandits” that we found on Alive Network who were fab!!!
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My bridesmaids were amazing!! I had 5 – my 2 sisters, best friend and my 2 sister-in-laws. I had searched for months looking for bridesmaid dresses. This was hard as I did not want traditional bridesmaid dresses but by fate my mum, sisters and I had a quick look in Monsoon to find the gorgeous dresses we had at a bargain price of £45 in the sale!! It was safe to say we grabbed them and paid straight away!
THE FLOWERS | I knew exactly what I wanted for flowers – just plain white wild flowers with foliage. I found a local florist in Ashford, Kent called Bespoke Floral Design and it is safe to say I was in love with the bouquets, buttonholes and corsages. Amelia also made our table centre pieces!!
THE CAKE | CHEESECAKE!! We love cheese! After saving our nectar points we went to Sainsburys and bought lots of cheese, crackers and chutneys and created our own wedding cake!
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our photographer was Livvy Hukins based in Kent. I found Livvy on the off chance looking through the Creative Brides magazine from a wedding fair and thought I would contact her after looking at her portfolio online. We both loved her work as it is natural and captures all the special moments of the day. We met Livvy at the Bakehouse in Tenterden and as soon as we met her felt comfortable and booked her there and then. We LOVE our photographs!
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Our venue although steeped in character with the old beams and Kent peg tiling it was a blank canvas, which is why we picked it! We took a lot of inspiration off Pinterest but knew exactly how we wanted it to look very quickly! We decorated the beams in lots of Kent hops and my mother, best friend, sister and I went flower picking in a local flower nursery called Blooming Green for white flowers for the glass milk bottles. We hired fairy lights from our florist for the hops and also fairy lights from Dallas Events for outside as well as up lighters to add that extra wow factor to the venue. The stage we laced with hessian, candles and wild flowers.
We created our own photo booth in a side room and bought it lots of selfie sticks as well as creating our own sweet table.
To add to the relaxed atmosphere we had a BBQ for our main meal, guest’s baked cakes to add to the dessert table and our evening food was a pizza van!
THE HONEYMOON | As I got to have a wedding in the UK, Jake picked the honeymoon destination and what a good job he did. We went to the beautiful Bali! Jake is a keen surfer so this was one main reason! We travelled to 3 areas in Bali, Bingin, Canggu and Ubud and we loved every minute and can’t wait to get back there!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | A difficult question…
Seeing Jake when I walked in.
The dance off!!
Seeing my nan at the wedding – she has been battling the BIG C to make it to the day and she did it! It was emotional to say the least!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Enjoy every minute!!! It is your day and make it how you want it!
