Snowy Sunrise Peak District Engagement

I don’t tend to feature engagement shoots on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings these days, but when these seasonal images popped up I just knew I had to share them with you this week.

Whether we are going to be treated to a white Christmas this year I am not sure, but these snowy images in the Peak District transported me in an instant to a romantic wintry scene. Couple Dom and Melissa are planning their nuptials and decided on a couples shoot with their photographer in the rolling countryside at sunrise. By pure chance it snowed the night before and the couple were treated to these divine results to treasure forever more. I really enjoyed getting to know this pair today, just wait until you see the full set of images.

Thanks so much to Jun Tan for sending over these wonderfully festive shots.

“We met in a club and Mel was very drunk and lost her friends so I took her outside and bought her a pizza in an attempt to sober her up as it was the end of the night. It didn’t really help and she was so drunk she couldn’t remember where she lived haha. I ended up having to take her to mine and look after her for the night and took her home the next day.”

Us as a couple, we’re both models so naturally confident and outgoing people, always up for an adventure and to try new things and travel new places. We’ve lived together for a while so used to each other’s company.”

We didn’t have much of a plan when we approached Jun so it was his idea to do a sunrise shoot. We were up for it and when the day came, it happened to snow the night before so when Mel chose her outfit she wasn’t prepared for the cold lol. She’s a real trooper though and braved the cold and despite the freezing weather it was pretty romantic watching the sunrise together. Thank god for the blanket at least haha.”

“We decided to pick the Peak District as the location because we both live in Sheffield and wanted something true to us and our roots. We’d seen Jun’s work through a friend who got married last year and when we saw his instagram involved lots of location shoots, we knew we’d found our man.”

“Outfits, we just kept it real but without sticking out like a sore thumb. No one wears a suit to hike, do they? Hahaha. We just wore what we would do on a normal day but obviously it had to fit with the area too. A true representation of us.”

The proposal; “It wasn’t anything fancy but I wanted it to be similar to how we first met so I got our closest friends to come over to ours for a movie. I ordered pizza and had my best mate pretend to have a smoke outside so when the pizza guy came, he could slip the ring inside. When he bought the pizzas in, I asked Mel to help me in the kitchen with them and when she opened one of the pizza boxes and saw the ring, I did my bit.”

The wedding; “To turn up and be on time hahaha! Oh and to get a new ring box because the current one still has some pizza stains on it. The rest of the organising is still in the works but so long as Mel is happy and has her dream day, that’s good enough for me.”

“Hopes and dreams would be to carry on loving each other for the foreseeable future and succeed in our chosen careers and start a family of our own soon.”

This Christmas; “We’re off to a log cabin with some friends and spending Christmas Day between each other’s family’s.”

Now I am longing to cosy up and watch The Holiday with a mug of steaming hot chocolate.

A log cabin Christmas sounds pretty perfect to me! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely story Dom and Melissa xo Lou
