Happy Friday WWWers, to bring the week to an end in total and utter style, let me share this super fun and rustic wedding celebration.

Hannah and Anthony were hitched on the 26th March 2016 at The Great Barn Aynho in Oxfordshire, with a simple vision; an outdoor country wedding. The whole day was joy filled, everyone looked so happy and they had a real blast. Many memories were made thanks to the cool ideas from the couple and their loved ones, such as marshmallow toasting, ‘Scratch off to find your table number’ tree, magician entertainment and the awesome NYPD car as transport. It’s those moments and touches that really make a wedding personal and memorable for sure.

The tipi looked really magical with it’s home made décor, which included bunting made by the ‘Bunting club’, log slice place mats and much more. Just wait until you see it all. Let’s not forget how cool the couple looked too though, Anthony and the gents wore tweed, while Hannah chose a lace gown by Amanda Wyatt. Swoon.

Huge thanks to Potters Instinct Photography for sharing these fabulous shots.

THE PROPOSAL | 04.08.14

Hannah – I started the morning driving back from helping family friends at Cambridge Folk Festival. It was my birthday and I knew we were having a family BBQ in the evening. I was telling my sister, Katie how rubbish Ant was with surprises and that I was sure Hedley and Nai, our best friends, were coming to our small family BBQ too!

Anthony – I was working in the morning and then drove up with Jo and Jonny and Nai and Hedley in convoy. I was absolutely bricking it and hoping that she wouldn’t work out what was happening – I’m so bad at surprises! My philosophy in our relationship to date has always been – set the bar low! So I was sure that she wouldn’t be thinking I was capable of this.

Hannah – As Ant and I were off on holiday in two days I had booked myself in for a hair cut and had a manicure. THANK GOODNESS!!

Anthony – I was just wondering whether she would leave herself enough time to have a shower before people started turning up – she’s always a mess after being at the festivals!

Hannah – By the time we got back to Mum and Dad’s house, I was proved right – Hedley and Nai were sitting in the back garden! However, little did I know 20+ more people were about to arrive too! Throughout the evening family and close friends turned up for this ‘small BBQ’. After the arrival of the last people (Jane, John and Lucy) everyone gathered in the garden. Ant told me to put some shoes on and stand next to him. I did neither of these things! A good start! He began to thank everyone for coming and I think I guessed where he was going but didn’t believe he would do it in front of everyone.

Anthony – I must have run through this speech about a million times in my head – to the point where it was like a monologue. I knew that if I forgot one line – my mind would go completely blank. So, I had just run into a back room somewhere to practice it one last time and given Jason the nod to start getting people outside when someone mentioned that the Harpenden gang weren’t there yet! I was going mad, doing backflips in my brain. Then they showed up and it was game time. I looked over to Frank (Hannah) and asked her to come and stand with me as I wanted to say a few Happy Birthday type words and thank everyone for coming. She saw straight through the charade. We gathered everyone outside and it dawned on me how many people were there. I started my monologue and everything was going great. I looked to my left hoping to find Hannah by my side as I’d practiced it so many times but she wasn’t there! Then I looked around and saw that she wasn’t wearing any shoes – the combination completely threw me and my mind went blank! I think I said something like, “you could have put some shoes on mate, this party’s for you” which got a few laughs and let me catch my train of thought while she trundled towards me…..

Hannah – The proposal was incredible and extremely emotional! Even those who I’ve never seen cry, cried. He spoke some lovely words, which someone has on film that we need to watch again. Even though I was crying and he was on one knee I still didn’t put the Pimms in my right hand down!

Anthony – I was on a role now. I had the group in the palm of my hand. There were laughs where there should be laughs, tears where there should be tears. But most of all – the love of my life was there, with me on one knee, listening to all the things that I’d wanted to say for years. Finally I was able to tell her that I wanted her to marry me. But all I kept thinking was, ‘she could have put that glass down!’. I remember looking into those beautiful brown eyes as she said “YES”. What an incredible moment and to share it with so many important people in our lives was truly incredible.

THE VISION | A county, outdoor wedding with added fun!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We spent the next two weeks in Mexico discussing plans, budgets, bridesmaids, groomsmen, guest lists etc. It was an amazing way to start our engagement. Hannah’s Mum and Dad have an allotment so they started prepping for loads of fruit so they could make into jam. All Hannah’s colleagues at school (she’s a primary teacher) collected jam jars. One of Hannah’s bridesmaids is a designer and designed all the table numbers etc. She even drew a design similar to the bridesmaid shows for one of the bunting materials. Hannah’s mum and her friends started a ‘Bunting club’ and met weekly with wine to create meters upon meters of bunting. One of Ant’s groomsmen is an artist and he drew the photo of Ant proposing for the wedding invites.

BUDGET | £40,000 inc honeymoon.

THE VENUE | The Great Barn, Aynho with tipis from The Stunning Tent Company. The Stunning Tent Company were amazing! I would highly recommend them.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | It was an Amanda Wyatt dress collection: ‘Blue Ivy’ it was called ‘Love in the Wilderness’.

I wasn’t sure whether I wanted a veil or a flower crown. Then I tried on a veil with a beaded string that went over my forehead with lace flower detail at the back and I fell in love with it ☺

Shoes – I went to Bicester Village, where I used to work in my teenage years and got some glittery Jimmy Choos. LOVE!

FINDING THE DRESS | I got my dress from the same shop as Mum got hers from many years ago! A shop in Tring called ‘Confetti Bridal Wear’. I went with my Mum and Grandma and one of my sisters. We Skyped the other sister while we were in the shop too!

GROOM’S ATTIRE | We had a vague idea we wanted tweed to match the ‘country’ feel of the wedding. Ant went and chose them with the groomsmen. When they came back all I said was ‘As long as you haven’t got a royal blue tie it’ll be fab’. Turns out they did have this colour tie and so it was panic stations to find a tie that worked! We used the material we had used for the bunting and the suit shop made bow ties and a tie for Ant.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Walked down the aisle to ‘Sunshine’ by Gabrielle. Signed the register to ‘Book of Love’ Gavin James.

Sang ‘Amore’ by Dean Martin with everyone during the ceremony (long story behind this!). Walked back down the aisle to ‘L.O.V.E’ by Nat King Cole.

Readings: Hilary T Smith – Wild Awake, Richard Bach – The Bridge Across Forever and C.S. Lewis – The Last Battle.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | This was the first thing we bought! And it was the first dress the girls tried on! From ASOS. Flower girl dress from BHS.

THE FLOWERS | My college and friend Katie (used to be a florist) did all the flowers including the hanging ones by the home made photo booth. Katie and I got up on Thursday at 4am to go to flower market and get them all. Then went and taught a full day at school before driving back to my mum’s that evening and began prepping for the Saturday.

Katie’s partner Will is a tree surgeon and sliced 200 odd pieces of wood to be used as plate chargers. Katie and Will branded them with the wedding date and two love hearts. I have a cool slow-mo clip of them slicing the wood.

THE CAKE | My Mum! She is a great baker and I knew I always wanted her to make my cake. We thought the naked style cake would be the least stressful and can look ‘rustic’ to cover any mistakes! We did a few trial runs and family and friends appreciated this!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Kevin Potter – Potters Instinct. Incredible ☺ best wedding photographer I’ve seen.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | All home made items.

Polaroids of our favourite memories so far.

Guest book – an old dictionary (from eBay) where people had to choose a word and write a message.

‘Scratch off to find your table number’ tree – a lot of fun to keep the guests entertained before the ceremony.

Bunting – home made.

Pimp my Prosecco stand with elderflower cordial and wooden chargers.

Fire pit for toasting marshmallows.

Jam as favours.

THE HONEYMOON | Thailand – Bangok and Koh Lak.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The NYPD car turning up to pick my dad and me up. He had organised this as a surprise and I had no idea.

The band were awesome and the wedding guests made a ring around the two of us while they were singing Wonderwall by Oasis, such an emotional and amazing moment.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Make your day exactly as you want it and get as much help as you can from family/friends as it makes it all the more personal and they enjoyed it even more by seeing the bits they helped out with.
