There is so much romance, so many happy moments and a lot of love in today’s real wedding feature folks. Plus you are going to be bowled over by the abundance of gorgeous flowers, just you wait and see…
WWW readers Leanna and James tied the knot on the 27th July 2016 at Brasteds in Norfolk. The venue was perfect for their countryside celebrations, surrounded by golden fields and with plenty of accommodation for their loved ones. They really transformed the space to make it their own, with quirky props, hand made bunting and book folds plus ribbon chair decorations to name a few. The chalk board signage also really stood out to me, it worked so well. My favourite element though has to be the remarkable florals by Jo Flowers, whose natural arrangements in peach, blush and ivory tones looked utterly beautiful.
Leanna was radiant in her Maggie Sottero low back, beaded gown teamed with picture perfect hair and make up. James was suited and booted in a blue Hugo Boss suit, with coordinating tie and their little boy looked adorable in a waistcoat and bow tie combo.
Thanks so much to Katherine Ashdown for sharing these sublime shots.
THE PROPOSAL | James proposed to me on my birthday with the help of our little boy Jenson (9 months old at the time). We were enjoying a family break at Forest Holidays and when the afternoon came and we were relaxing in front of the fire James asked me to take Jenson’s pjs off and to my surprise he had a baby gro on underneath that read, ”mummy will you marry my daddy”, it was such a surprise. I think I read it out loud about 3 or 4 times before it sank in!
It was the cutest and most perfect way to propose.
THE VISION | We both wanted the wedding day to be quite relaxed and to have the ceremony and reception all in the same place. It was also important to us that there was somewhere for family and friends to stay as we had family coming from far to celebrate with us.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Once we had found the venue we started researching suppliers. Choosing the right photographer to capture our day was one of the most important things for us so that was where we started.
BUDGET | £15,000
THE VENUE | As soon as we visited Brasteds we knew it was the perfect venue for us. We could imagine Jenson playing on the lawn with all his friends and there was also a lodge where friends and family could stay. Nigel who showed us around Brasteds also made a big impact on our decision to book with them as he was so relaxed, happy and easy to talk to, which we knew would be important on the big day.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was a Maggie Sottero beaded lace dress. I fell in love with the romantic low back and beaded details. I wore a veil with laced edging and then just had a few flowers in my hair.
FINDING THE DRESS | Finding the dress was difficult for me, I didn’t really have in mind what I wanted so therefore tried on a lot of dresses. When I found my dress I wouldn’t say I had the ‘this is the one’ moment either, I just knew it was the only dress I thought about after leaving the shop and it made me feel glamorous.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | James found his suit in Hugo Boss, and the father of the bride, usher and best man found there suits in Next.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had the Waveney String duo playing throughout the ceremony, we choose ‘A thousand years’ by Christina Perri to play as I walked down the aisle and ‘What a wonderful world’ was playing as we signed the register.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My big sister Kayleigh, and my two closest friends Claire and Franki were my bridesmaids. The girls all wore matching peach dresses and gold glitter shoes.
THE FLOWERS | My flowers were beautifully created by Jo Flowers. When looking for a florist I found Jo’s website and instantly fell in love with her style. I remember visiting Jo for a consultation at her home and falling in love with her magical garden full of the most beautiful flowers and all her chickens and ducks running around. Jo is incredibly talented and the flowers she created for us were simply stunning.
THE CAKE | My maid of honour Claire has always been good at baking cakes so when she offered to make our wedding cake for us we were both so pleased, we knew she would do a great job.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Katherine Ashdown Photography. Choosing the right photographer was so important to us and we knew as soon as we saw Katherine’s images that she would capture our day perfectly. Her images are timeless and romantic and she made us all feel completely relaxed in front of the camera.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We hired some props from The Little Lending Company and also some Giant balloons with tassel tails to match our colour scheme from Special Occasions. My sister made us the most beautiful decoupaged seating plan, blackboard sign and matching table numbers. Me and my maid of honour also made bunting and book folds, and my mum made some pearl bead and ribbon chair decorations too. It was very rewarding to look around the venue on the day knowing how much work everyone had put into it all.
THE HONEYMOON | We went to Venice a few days after the wedding and had the most romantic few days sightseeing and taking all the beauty of Venice in.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | There were so many memorable moments, I literally felt like I couldn’t stop smiling all day! When I walked down the aisle to see James had Jenson in his arms was probably the most memorable, although Jenson wasn’t too happy and crying, it was for me just perfect to be walking to meet them both at the end of the aisle.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Enjoy every moment, from planning the wedding to the honeymoon. It all goes way too fast!
