Mollie and Lee got hitched at Chaucer Barn, Norfolk on the 28th March 2017. With a relatively short planning period, they didn’t make life easy for themselves but they ended up with a beautiful, relaxed big day. Mollie looked fabulous in her WWW Supplier Love members Grace Loves Lace dress and Lee cut a relaxed figure with no tie, instead wearing a bespoke pocket square.
You really get the sense of a spring-time affair from the images. From Mollie’s garden-style wildflower bouquet to the simply gorgeous sprigs of lavender on the table settings, there are so many pretty details to take in. The pair really went their own way and didn’t include a few of the traditional elements of the reception that didn’t suit them. Proof that you really should plan a day that is completely you. It sounds like everyone really got on board with the instant photography and guest book, such wonderful memories for the two of them to look back on!
Thank you so much Emily Tyler Photography for sharing these gorgeous images with WWW.
THE PROPOSAL | In Corfu 2014 looking over the sea. It wasn’t an official down on one knee but it was perfect
THE VISION | Rustic, Boho, vintage it was in a barn so was fitting
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We did it all in 5 months and was quite stressful at the time, I would advise to leave lots of time to organise!!
BUDGET | 25-30k
THE VENUE | Chaucer Barn
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I had my heart set on a Grace Loves Lace dress from day 1. It was fully backless, floaty chiffon layered full length skirt, French lace capped sleeves, delicate lace bodice. I felt perfect! It was bohemian relaxed but so simple and elegant.
I had a double layered sash/belt with satin bow and chiffon train with diamanté and beading detail on the front – my shoes were Jenny Packham simple satin sandals with lace applique detail on the front (all though I did end up being barefoot for the ceremony). I had a forget-me-not and gypsophila flower crown for my hair.
I am an editorial makeup artist so I felt it made sense I did my own (I’m very fussy) And I also ended up doing everyone else’s. But hair I called in one of the best!! Ed Taylor hair – He drove 4 hours to come and do all of our hair. He used products from Bumble & Bumble, Structure & Davines. Its all about the skin prep, weeks before I perfected my skin regime. Making sure I was glowing, spot and pore free. I also think its really important to look like yourself on your wedding day. Nothing too much!
GROOM’S ATTIRE | He wore a grey and navy wool mix suit from Ben Sherman and no tie with Ox blood Brogues from Ben Sherman and Sixpence rose gold cufflinks from Aspinal of London. He also had a bespoke paisley print pocket square. When I first saw him I was so proud, he looked perfect! Just as always but a little more special.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | We didn’t have any readings, it was as minimal as possible. The ceremony was the best part of the wedding for me, my mum walked me down the aisle and it was so intimate. He cried, we laughed, it was all really romantic and perfect.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had just a maid of honour which was my sister.
She wore a vintage 70s Blue and White pin prick white dotted dress. With a Bardot neckline. To the knee. With French Sole nude satin ballet shoes and a flower crown.
THE FLOWERS | The Rose Garden – I had all garden style flowers and pastels. Gypsophelia, forget me nots, peonies, thistles, daisys and more.
THE CAKE | We went very untraditional and had amazing mini meringues from The Meringue Girls with flavours like pistachio, gin & tonic, tutti fruit & more. Also we had a cupcake tower and macaroons.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Emily Tyler was amazing!!! Captured every single detail of our day. Couldn’t have asked for more beautifully incredible pictures.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | I bought tons of fairy lights, wooden country boards (saying bride & groom etc) Lots of tea lights and milk bottles with lights in. The barn was very rustic and beautiful so just wanted to enhance it. Favours were Mini Milk bottles filled with Mr & Mrs pink and white candy rock. We had lots of Fuji instamax cameras, everyone was taking photos and signing them all day. We had an amazing chef come in an serve a small intimate meal for 40. We had Navrin of Lamb, French peas & onion salad, celeriac mash potatoes, smoke salmon parfait, pear and almond tart & macaroons.
We didn’t have any speeches! It was the most laid back wedding. We didn’t have a first dance either! Instead we insisted everyone danced with us to a random Jocelyn Brown song.
THE HONEYMOON | We went to Bali & the Gili Islands for 18 days. We did EVERYTHING!!!! Swam, Washed, Fed and rode elephants, went to Monkey Forest, Boat Trips, Jungle, Snorkelling, spa, & more.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Three most memorable moments were:
The Moment I had to walk down the isle – I saw him fill with tears.
Saying our Vows ( we wrote our own) it was everything I dreamt of and more.
Dancing the night away bare foot with all my friends & family.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Advice for the bride: Don’t stress it!!!!!! Get help ask, advice and have what you want as a couple don’t worry about the guests want.
Advice for the groom: Stay calm, support your bride and enjoy the day (don’t annoy the bride with silly questions re flowers haha).
Our top budgeting tip would be: Budget before you start, get various quotes before agreeing to anything
Our top planning tip would be: Give yourselves more than 6 months, we did it in 5 it was very stressful
On the big day, don’t forget to: Give yourselves some you time! Take a moment & enjoy everything as it goes so quickly
If we could do it all again we would. Be more relaxed & drink more champagne.
