Pretty pretty pretty alert. It’s time for Laura and Michael’s gorgeous country wedding held on the 22nd August 2015 at Norfolk Mead Hotel. Their vision was ‘English country garden’ complete with pastel colours and rustic touches, sounds amazing right?
Well it really was. The DIY décor was lovingly crafted by the couple and their loved ones which included stationery, jam favours and stencilled crates. I especially love the gorgeous pink flower arrangements. they made great impact.
THE PROPOSAL | Mike took to me to Finland in March 2014 for my birthday. On the last night he’d secretly arranged for us to stay in an igloo. He’d had the igloo romantically decorated with swan towels, petals and chocolates. As we entered the igloo I was blown away by its beauty and that’s when he got down on one knee. We spent the rest of the evening cuddled up on reindeer hides drinking champagne watching the night skies for the northern lights.
THE VISION | English country garden, rustic with pastel colours.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Using Pinterest to create theme boards and crafting most of our stationery and décor ourselves. We planned from April 14 up to the big day.
THE VENUE | The Norfolk Mead Hotel, Coltishall.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Second hand Pronovias Dagen dress adorned with Stella York diamanté appliqué with the addition of bespoke lace shoulders made by Theresa Andrews. 72” pearl veil. Bespoke hairpiece by Melissa Morgan designs. Garter by Proudlock and Harry. Jon Richard Isabella necklace and bracelet. Blush pink lace peep toe shoes. Ivory and lace underwear from Boux Avenue.
FINDING THE DRESS | A day trip into Norwich with my sister (while back from NZ) and Mum. I tried on several dresses but I felt huge in them. When I put the dress on both my mum and sister were in tears and I felt happy in it so I thought – this one will do! I looked on preloved.com and found the dress for half the price. So my bridesmaid and I went on a road trip to Newark and I bought the dress.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Waistcoat, shirt, trousers and shoes from Next. Ties by Dessy in blush and cameo. Grooms and groomsmen all had a engraved pocket watch from Jiablo as a gift.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Into – Marry Me by Train. Exit music – Ho Hey by The Lumineers. Signing the register – Yours by Ella Henderson, The One by Kodaline, Everything has Changed by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. First dance – I Will by Matchbox Twenty.
Reading by Mark Timm and Natalie Wilson.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My best friend Liz, friend Lorna and sister Natalie all wearing Dessy dresses (bought from La Belle Angel in Norwich) in blush, cameo and celadon. Pearl jewellery by John Richard. Gypsophila in their hair.
THE FLOWERS | Bramble & Berry – roses, veronicas, hydrangea, scabiosa, euryngiums and eucalyptus in pink pastels. Rose and gyp posies on the aisle chairs. Wooden wheelbarrow filled with flower pots. Register/top table piece.
Flower arrangements of sweet avalanche roses, eucalyptus, spray roses and euryngium dotted around the venue in jam jars – arranged by me.

THE HONEYMOON | Kuala Lumpar – Borneo – Bali.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Watching my friends joke and laugh while playing lawn games in the sunshine. The groom’s speech – he exceeded expectations and got very emotional while talking about his family so I had to help him out a little. The boys owning the dance floor!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Take some time for yourself to enjoy the day. Also be a little selfish, don’t worry about speaking to everyone who has come to your wedding. Do the things you want to do and enjoy the day you’ve planned for so long. Don’t worry about the little things that go wrong on the day – they really don’t matter. The day is about so much more and ultimately, saying those vows is all that matters.
