Love in the magical woodland this morning with WWW readers Clare and Rob and their sensational, fun loving wedding day held on the 12th August 2017 at Wilderness Weddings in Kent. The location here is really rather marvellous, think woodland glades, golden fields and scenic views. An outdoor ceremony was conducted beneath a wooden structure draped with blooms for real wow factor. Before guests descended upon the tipi, adorned in festoon lights and greenery galore! Picture perfect.
Talking of pictures, these images captured by Johnny Dent Photography are so atmospheric and emotive in equal measure (thanks Johnny!), plus teamed with the gorgeous film at the end of this feature and you have all the memories captured oh so perfectly.
The bride and groom along with their wedding party looked stunning in their chosen attire, there was a Host the Roast meal and some brilliant song choices. All in all a blooming brilliant celebration then.
THE PROPOSAL | 9th October 2016. We were in Paphos, Cyprus staying at The Almyra Hotel. Rob had organised a private rooftop dinner at sunset where we had a private chef cooking a tasty surf and turf BBQ! I suggested we put Spotify on and the song I said ‘yes’ too was our first dance ☺ ‘Rather Be’ by Jasmine Thompson.
THE VISION | We both wanted something that was us, not what a venue wanted you to be. A relaxed vibe was key with our guests having the ability to explore and enjoy the day at their own pace. A place that wasn’t tied to strict rules and if we could enjoy the outdoors at the same time, that was a huge plus!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | From saying ‘yes’ to ‘I do’ was a relatively quick turnaround, we knew we wanted a summer wedding and thought we didn’t want to wait until the following year, so 9 months it was! The planning was a relatively stress-free process; we ensured we had all of our key suppliers in place pretty quickly and communication is definitely key! I think the only time it got slightly stressful was the organisation of all of the suppliers coming together but I have to say, Anna and the Wilderness team were incredible!!! More about them later!
BUDGET | We didn’t have a strict budget but of course looked for any money saving where we could.
THE VENUE | Wilderness Weddings Kent. We were the first people to hold a wedding too, which was pretty special. It was amazing to see the transformation! When we viewed the venue in October it didn’t look like it did on the 12th, but we saw something in it and loved it! The team at Wilderness are incredible and their wealth of knowledge from their original site, Preston Court, pours through. We loved the options and openness that Wilderness had to offer, if our guests wanted to go for a stroll across the field, they could! The relaxed nature really appealed to us and the natural scenery is just stunning. I couldn’t recommend the venue more and the team were so awesome to work with!
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was by Stella York and shoes were by Betsy Johnson.
FINDING THE DRESS | I found my dress at Wedding Frox in Cranleigh. It had been recommended to me by my sister-in-law whose cousin had recently picked her dress. It was the second dress I had ever tried on and the team actually picked it out for me! I was adamant I wanted straps but when I put it on, I didn’t want to take it off! They were brilliant.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Rob went for a Ted Baker suit and had it tailored to him. His tie was Moss Bros and pocket chief was TM Lewin.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had a big compilation of songs we had put together for before the ceremony, this included things such as: In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry, Baby Love by The Supremes and Tutti Frutti by Little Richard. The aisle was Nobody Does it Better but The Villagers version. We sealed the deal with Higher and Higher by Jackie Wilson. Our first dance was Rather Be by Jasmine Thompson. We had a jazz quartet out together by friends for the drinks reception and then Jukebox Nation in the evening who were incredible! Would definitely recommend! Readings we had Captain Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres and Union by Robert Fulghum.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I loved the girls dresses! They were from Asos.
THE FLOWERS | The wonderful Gwenda at Bohotanical. She transformed the place!
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Johnny Dent Photography and Charlotte assisted. They were SO much fun and so chilled too.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | I really wanted to include a literal family tree, that was topped off by signage from Emily at I Do Devoted Dreams and flowers by Gwenda. We wanted to keep as many personal touches as possible so create a ladder with picture bunting, we thought it was a nice way to show our journey as a couple.
THE HONEYMOON | We’re heading off to Vietnam and Thailand for a 3 week adventure in November.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | In the evening, we took some pictures with Johnny on the wooden bridge and looked across to the tipis, everyone was partying to the band and we knew we’d done it right!
Also, just after the ceremony we found ourselves amongst a huge group huge. The speeches were also great, really relax and not pressure filled at all! Also, the food!! It was awesome!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Take a risk and go with it. If you think it’s going to work and you can do it, just do it! The outcome will be even more special! Also, be sure to communicate and give a list of alternate contacts. You don’t want to get phone calls the morning of and luckily we didn’t!
CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE |
Photography | Johnny Dent Photography. If you’re looking for a chilled, super cool and documentary style photographer, this is definitely your guy!
Styling | I Do Devoted Dreams. Emily styled our day with hired added extras we thought we’d have to buy. An amazing lady and for the service, really reasonable.
Food | Tayberry Foods. The food was to die for! We went for a ‘Host the Roast’ option, which was really fun and interactive. They provided chef hats and aprons for those who ‘hosted the roast’.
Flowers | Gwenda who owns Bohotanical, our wonderful florist. As an ex interior designer she took our wedding to the next level.
