Happy days. It’s time to share WWW readers Adam and Katy’s gorgeous May wedding in the capital this morning. They chose to marry at Clapton Round Chapel, which they decorated so beautifully. They went for my favourite, beautiful twinkling festoon lights, which totally transformed the space.
Elegant blue tones were used throughout the stylish attire and the pretty Spring blooms.
Katy donned an original vintage dress from Elizabeth Avey, the first she tried on and it looked just perfect. And Katy, I have serious hair envy over here hehe.
So many thanks go to Marianne Chua for sharing such fantastic photographs on WWW.
THE PROPOSAL | 17.08.2014
THE VISION | Relaxed London wedding with a vintage vibe and a touch of the countryside at spring time!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Very easy and a team effort with lots of help from friends and family! Managed to find all our suppliers locally and have always admired the Clapton Round Chapel while passing it on the bus on journey’s home.
THE VENUE | Clapton Round Chapel
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Vintage dress from Elizabeth Avey. Shoes by Rachel Simpson – My hair and make up was done by the brilliant Katie Coward who also lives locally in Hackney.
FINDING THE DRESS | It was the first dress I tried on! One morning in November with my Mum. Bought it straight away – easiest days shopping I’ve ever had.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | A sharp royal blue suit from Ben Sherman with a beautiful brushed cotton shirt from BS as well. Patent Leather shoes by Kin at John Lewis and his bowtie from Mrs Bowtie – all hand made in England.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Readings were by our two good friends James and Anna. All written by them so incredibly personal and also hilarious! It made for a really intimate but relaxed ceremony. Music for the ceremony was a mix of old rock and roll and folk. We played BB King ‘Hummingbird’ straight after the ceremony which was already on our play list but was even more apt after his sad passing a couple of days before the wedding. We walked out to Led Zeppelin “Ramble On’.
During the lunch we played some old time jazz including Sidney Bechet and Duke Ellington.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | There were 5 beautiful bridesmaids; Alice, Debs, Megan, Pascale and Vix, as well as two gorgeous flower girls my nieces Sophie and Lola. The bridesmaids were in hand made dresses by Lucille. All her dresses are made in an old mill up in Yorkshire! The flower girls dresses were from Next!
THE FLOWERS | By Clare Robinson of Love Blooms – also Hackney based!
THE CAKE | All lovingly made by our friends and family. We had all kinds of flavours from Blueberry and Lemon Cheesecake, Cappuccino cupcakes, Banana and chocolate (a favourite of mine and Adam’s), traditional wedding cake, Ginger Cake, Chocolate Torte and also a Carrot Sourdough cake! The guests loved the variety and we even had some left over to enjoy the week after the wedding.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | THE AMAZING Marianne Chua – cannot recommend this lady enough. She was here there and everywhere!!! And has captured the day so perfectly for us we get to relive it over and over again.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We did all the decorations (bar the flowers) ourselves. We hired the festoon to be strung across the mezzanine level which really made the room especially as the natural light fell throughout the day. We looped plain white cotton bunting around the balustrade at high level (I’ve also made bunting for mine and Adam’s tents when we go camping so we had to have it somewhere on the day). We also used fairy lights to wrap around each of the columns. We didn’t use any chair covers as the venue’s chairs were blue which tied in perfectly with our colour scheme!!
THE HONEYMOON | We’ve had two nights in Paris straight after the wedding. But we’ve got a UK camping honeymoon planned in September using our new bell tent! This coincides with my 30th so at present all destinations are a complete surprise to me as Adam is organising it all!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The ceremony itself was so memorable due to all the personal touches and that everyone was so relaxed. There was so much laughter, clapping and whooping throughout the whole thing I reckon it may have been the noisiest ceremony the registrars had witnessed!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Keep it simple! Especially if you’re taking on the task of organising most of the suppliers yourself. Guests can tell when the bridge and groom are feeling happy and relaxed so make sure when the day comes everything this sorted so you don’t have to worry about a thing! And smile…. I think you can tell from the photos that I found it very hard to not smile – at any point!!
