Take a moment to enjoy that header image, it’s filled with love, joy and beautiful blooms, not to mention buckets of style. A perfect moment captured beautifully by Anna B Photography and the whole day was an utter dream. I am loving these images by Anna, the sparklers in the evening and all the little details too, thank you so much Anna for sharing them with us today.
Camilla and Chris were hitched on the 16th September 2017 and decided upon the Cotswolds as the perfect setting for their celebrations. After a church ceremony the pair and their loved ones headed to the magical Cripps Barn in Gloucestershire for their chic country day with a relaxed feel. For them the focus was on creating a party atmosphere featuring brilliant food, drink and a live band. All the ingredients for a successful bash then. I also love their chosen outfits, Camilla chose a Halfpenny London gown and Chris a Hugo Boss suit. Didn’t they look just gorgeous?
Enjoy all of the lovely moments and stylish touches in full below. It’s just stunning.
THE PROPOSAL | I have grown up spending all my summers in Dartmouth, South Devon. I am completely in love with it there and drag Chris down at every possible opportunity! We were spending the week in Dartmouth with family when Chris proposed whilst the two of us were out for a walk. I obviously hadn’t been too subtle, as the ring was exactly what I would have chosen myself…. He must listen more than I give him credit for!
THE VISION | I am unashamedly one of those women who has imagined her wedding day since I was a child. Obviously (and thankfully) my tastes have changed somewhat over the years but the one constant has always been that it needed to be in the Cotswolds. My Great Aunt had a cottage in Coln St Aldwyns near Bibury, which she left to my Dad and his two brothers, so I have grown up spending time there and absolutely love it. Luckily, Chris feels the same, so all we needed to do was find a venue in that area.
We didn’t really have a theme in mind for the day, we knew we wanted a Church, it was important for us that the ceremony felt traditional and was the more formal part of the day. For the reception both of us felt strongly that we wanted it to feel very relaxed and to just have a really good party with great food, lots of drink and band that would get everyone up and dancing.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We loved planning our wedding. It really was the best year! From meeting with suppliers to choosing flowers and menus, there was not one aspect of it that we didn’t enjoy. We honestly didn’t find the planning process stressful at all and I really think the amazing suppliers as well as Cripps Barn were to thank for that. We also didn’t get too hung up on the details.
THE VENUE | Cripps Barn, what can I say, Cripps Barn was everything! It was the first and only venue we visited. It is the most stunning barn, set in rural surroundings with high ceilings, flagstone floors and huge fireplace. It is filled with charm and character; you could almost get away with no decorations at all.
Added to that the staff are the absolute dream, they have it all down to such a fine art, which made planning a breeze! The food is out of this world too, that was another huge tick for us as we are both massive foodies. As soon as we saw that you could have whole BBQ’d lamb we were sold! The food is all served on big platters, which really added to the informal feel that we wanted to create. Booking Cripps Barn was absolutely the best decision we could have made!
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Halfpenny London.
FINDING THE DRESS | I had visited a couple of boutiques before Halfpenny London but I was still no closer to finding ‘the one’. As soon as I set foot through the door at Halfpenny I knew that was where I would find it. The difficulty was just picking one! I managed to narrow it down to two very different dresses but eventually settled on the more ‘princessy’ of the two. Ultimately it’s the one that made me feel the most like a bride, I loved how the skirt moved and the hand beaded bodice was exquisite.
The whole Halfpenny team are fantastic and I would highly recommend visiting, especially if you are looking for something a little different, you get the whole shop to yourself and you are spoilt for choice with stunning dresses. A lot of their pieces are separates, which gives you the chance to really play around with different looks and create something that feels like it was made for you!
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Chris is very particular about what he wears so I knew this was the one part of the day I was not going to have a say in! He went for a blue Hugo Boss suit and shoes from Crockett and Jones. His tie was Liberty print and was hand made by CatkinJane who we found through Etsy. She also made ties for the best man and ushers.
Chris’s best man gave him a pocket watch, which he also wore on the day.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had a string quartet for the church, I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon and we exited to Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. For the evening entertainment we booked Motown Gold who were fantastic! They even had my Dad up dancing… although I still haven’t decided if that was a good thing!
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had three bridesmaids, all old school friends. We had gone out shopping once, as well as making a few ASOS orders but were all struggling to find anything that excited us and that everyone liked. It didn’t help that I had no particular colour or style in mind so couldn’t give them much direction! In the end I came across the brand ‘Rewritten’, a new start up that creates mix and match separates in a selection of different colours. We visited their studio in North London to try a few bits and everyone left happy. All three of the girls went for a different style that best suited them. Really loved all their dresses!
THE FLOWERS | We found Beth Cox through Cripps Barn and she was completely wonderful! We knew we wanted loads of greenery with cream and white flowers. We wanted everything to look natural and not too put together. Beth’s flowers blew me away, they’re the one thing that kept making me cry! Cripps Barn is the most stunning venue but Beth’s flowers took it to another level. She created the most incredible hanging baskets that were suspended from the beams in the main barn as well as a beautiful floral archway at the church… I could go on and on about her flowers. If you are having your wedding at Cripps Barn you NEED Beth in your life!
THE CAKE | My mum made our cake! She’s always said she would want to do it and it made it all the more special that she had. It looked amazing and tasted even better… even if I did only end up with a small slice the day after! Luckily Cripps Barn saved us a wedge but that didn’t last too long either!
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Anna B. Anna had photographed Chris’s sisters wedding a couple of years ago, we loved their photographs so booking her was a bit of a no brainer. We are so happy we did! The photos are just beautiful and perfectly capture our day. I can’t stop looking at them!
Anna really took the time to get to know us, we met for a drink the November before the wedding and again for a trial shoot the month before. Both Chris and I are a bit awkward in front of the camera so this helped massively. Anna is also just the loveliest person to have around, (so important when you are going to spend the majority of your day with someone!) it was such a pleasure having her share our day!
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We kept it simple with the flowers as the main focal point. We also had some amazing signage created by Ellie from ‘Ginger is the new black’. Ellie also created our save the dates, invitations and all of the stationery for the day.
THE HONEYMOON | We are off to South Africa and the Seychelles next May, which we had as our wedding gift list.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | All of it! Everyone outside by the fire-pits in the evening with sparklers was special though…. And of course actually saying I do!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Don’t sweat the small stuff, just enjoy it and trust that your suppliers have everything in hand. After all, they are the experts and if they’re good at what they do they will get your vision.
