A 1950s Inspired, Beau Buttons Wedding ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Morning {www}ers, i am super excited by the wedding i have to start the week with.

The beautiful bride Emma, is one of my wedding industry friends and a www sponsor with her company Beau Buttons, in which Emma creates stunning button bouquets. I have to admit as i was preparing this feature i did get a little emotional :-) as i met Emma and her family back in November and they are the loveliest of people.

Emma and Scott were married in December at one of my favourite local venues, the gorgeous South Farm in Royston. Emma and Scott had an amazing team of suppliers involved in their wedding, which hardly comes as a surprise with Emma’s wedding industry credentials :-)

They wanted to create a fun 1950s inspired winter wedding, which was also suitable for their children to enjoy. Emma wanted to DIY her way to a beautifully crafted day, and even had craft days with her bridesmaids. After All Emma does have artistic and crafty skills so she certainly put those to good use and the bouquets she created for her wedding were just amazing. There are details galore here, and so much inspiration for you all.

I totally love Emma’s bridal look, with an original 1950s wedding dress, fun red accents and those fabulous shoes. Lets not forget Scott  wearing those red converse… too cool!

I am also thrilled to be sharing one of my industry friends work for the first time today, the lovely Emma Woodhouse AKA The Wedding Reporter, who was at Emma and Scott’s wedding to record their wedding with beautiful words. Here is an extract of their wedding report by Emma.

“Voices hushed at the sound of heels clicking across the tiled floor. Heads swivelled and eyes lit up to see a bevy of bridesmaids casually entering the room in a stylish sweep of red and black. With mismatching little black dresses, individual shoes and red flowers in their hair, Emma’s stylish entourage made their way to the front rows of the room to take their seats for her arrival.

Huge smiles broke out across their faces in anticipation of everybody else’s reaction to what was coming. As they pulled hankies and cameras from their clutch bags, they chatted excitedly across the aisle to other guests, steeling themselves for the bride’s entrance.

“I’ve already cried once so far!” exclaimed one of the bridesmaids, fumbling for a pack of tissues. “There’s no way I’m going to make it through this with dry eyes!”

Beneath the hum of excited chatter, Scott and Danny stood at the front of the room, joking with the registrar. Despite the jovial outward appearance, Scott’s hands belied his nerves with constant motion, wringing one another, unable to stay dormant in the final few moments.

The registrar asked the assembly to stand and the feverish chatter subsided into hushed anticipation as every head in the room turned to face the entrance. The sound of The Dixie Cups harmonious voices seeped into the room and grins broke out along the aisle as the sound of Going to the Chapel floated down the aisle before the bridal party.

Two flower girls appeared in the doorway like little blonde Christmas angels. Wearing matching white dresses with black sashes and red fur stoles they marched into the room, looking up at the sea of faces staring back at them. Proudly holding their black and white button bouquets in front of them, they confidently walked the length of the aisle with excited, fixed grins on their faces.

The two little girls prepared the way for Jack and Molly and the congregation collectively, and audibly, swooned. A sighing coo circulated underneath the rafters of the barn as Jack, in waistcoat and red tie, skilfully held the ring cushion aloft in front of him, whilst his sister in her pure white dress and fur stole carried her own red button bouquet.

The older bridesmaids audibly buzzed and leant forward in anticipation to catch a first glimpse of what was next.

Stepping through the decorated double doors on the arm of her mother, Emma held her head high in excited happiness as she surveyed the room before her. The matching red splashes of her shoes and lipstick together with her red button bouquet injected colour, triumph and celebration into the room whilst her knee length, long-sleeved lace tea dress cinched her figure to cinematically tiny proportions.

Glancing over at her mother with a private giggle, Emma was the very picture of a glowing bride. She smiled so broadly at her guests but her eyes darted to the length of the room, desperately seeking out Scott. With the faces of the wedding party turned towards her and spilling out into the aisle she could not see him; her heart pumped faster, her smile grew wider.

And then there they were, facing each other at the head of the aisle, in front of all their friends and family. Speechless and overwhelmed, Scott fought to retain his composure as his fiancé laughed giddily at his appreciative response. The music swelled as Scott took her hands, looked over every inch of her and, when words failed him for the emotion choked in his throat, mouthed “Wow” with unabashed admiration.”

Wow isn’t that beautiful, i bet you cannot wait to scroll down now :-)

Thanks so much to the amazing Haywood Jones Photography for sharing her gorgeous images with us today…

A Mismatched, Homemade Vintage Wedding ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Steve and Ellie wanted their wedding to be fun and relaxed yet filled with vintage, antique and handmade treasures to represent their personality in a mismatched way.

Ellie wore the most stunning pastel yellow vintage dress, with a big bow on the back and i am head over heels for her daisy bouquet… so so pretty. Lets not forget Steve who looks very dapper in a slim fit mod style suit, grooms take note.

They borrowed, crafted, rummaged and roped in family and friends to create a pretty and fun wedding full of details. With vintage penguin books for each guest, mismatched china, whimsical cakes and cake toppers. Ellie and Steve sure did create a unique and personal day to them.

Thanks so much to the fabulous Caro Hutchings Photography for sharing her stunning images with us today:

A Fuss Free, Stylish Wedding With a Bride in Pink Vintage ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Morning lovelies :-) I am sitting here with the sun shining on me through the office window and i am feeling great hehe! And the reason why? Well i have the sweetest of weddings to share with you from one of my very favourite wedding photographers.

James and Hannah were married on the 13 February, with a registry office ceremony, followed by drinks at the bride’s parents house and the day ending with a meal at Tung Fong, in Worsley. Then the next weekend the couple had a party at The Court House, in Worsley.

I so love this low key, wedding, with Hannah and James setting their priorities being a no fuss, no frills day with the people they love. And you know what i totally dig that. Spending just £4000 on their dream day.. or two days. With fabulous photographers and beautiful attire, it just goes to show you needn’t have a large budget for a wonderful wedding.

Hannah looks stunning in a pale pink vintage dress, while James looks amazing in a grey slim fit suit. Wow this couple are super stylish. Finally I just have to mention the sweet film at the end of the feature of their first dance… it’s just lovely, it’s a must watch!!

Thanks so much to the incredible Lawson Photography for sharing their gorgeous images with us today.…

A Glamorous Vintage Inspired Wedding

A Glamorous Vintage Inspired Wedding ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Emily and Daniel were married on Friday 13th January at the beautiful Moorpark House in Kilbirnie, West Scotland. They wanted their day to be a reflection of their New Zealand and Scottish backgrounds, and their love of vintage.

Emily wore the most diving 1950s vintage dress, birdcage veil and 1940s hollywood glamour inspired hair and make up, she looks stunning. Whist Daniel wore a traditional kilt in his grandmothers tartan.

I so love this glamorous and fun wedding, with so many personal touches. Thanks so much to the fantastic Silver Photography for sharing his images with us today, here is what he had to say about the day;

“On the 13th January (a Friday, no less), after what seemed like months of non-stop rain and general murkiness, I found myself driving along the fringes of the Clyde Muirshiel Park in beautiful sunshine to the wedding of Emily and Daniel at Moorpark House Hotel. To see the sun at any point in the year in Scotland is a blessing, and at that time of the year it was especially wonderful, but on a midwinter day such as this it was scraping along the tops of the trees and hills and I knew I’d have my work cut out dealing with the harsh shadows.

I knew that this wedding was going to be a great one from the first time I met Emily and Daniel. They were incredibly relaxed about the whole thing and it was very clear to me that the emphasis of the day was to have a good time. They didn’t seem overly preoccupied with all of the formalities and traditions a wedding can sometimes bring and, instead, they wanted to do things their way”

A Vintage Feel Castle Wedding with a Bride in Red

A Vintage Feel Castle Wedding with a Bride in Red ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Yesterday we had a beautiful bride in blue, so lets have a gorgeous bride in red today :-)

Elly and John opted for a simple December wedding with a budget of £6000 at the gorgeous Sherborne Castle. With Elly wearing a beautiful 1950s style bespoke dress with black accessories.…. i adore her dainty birdcage veil too :-)

I also have to mention the fabulous bridesmaids, in mismatching black dresses and gorgeous fur stoles. Oh so glamorous.

Thanks so much to the amazing Lisa Dawn Photography for sharing her beautiful imagery with us today, here is what she had to say about the day;

“Elly & John are such a fun, warm couple.  This was our last wedding of the year and it ended on a high! Elly and John’s Christmas wedding was held at Sherborne Castle.

We met Elly and the Bridesmaids in the morning at her parents house in the middle of the Dorset countryside. Elly wore a beautiful berry red dress, which had a huge black bow at the back.  Her shoes were black peep toe heels and to compliment her 1950’s vintage look she work a white bird cage veil.

Elly looked stunning and radiant and had a huge grin on her face all day! The Bridesmaids looked really stylish in black with their red rose bouquets. Each of the Bridesmaids wore a fur shrug to keep them warm on the way to the ceremony.  A work colleague of Elly had leant her a beautiful vintage fur coat for the day.

During Elly & John’s wedding ceremony they sang Christmas carols including ‘Winter Wonderland’. Everyone also sang ‘When i’m sixy four’ by the Beatles.  The songs were such a lovely part of their ceremony and put everyone in a festive mood!

Elly and John decided to have an intimate wedding inviting just their nearest and dearest friends and family.  Following their ceremony canapes were served which included trout caught by both the Bride and Groom’s fathers.  The guests then made their way to Elly’s family’s local pub, which is known for it’s delicious food.  Everyone involved with Elly and John’s wedding had a connection with the couple. Even the mini bus driver who took the bridesmaids to the Castle used to drive Elly to school when she was younger!”
