I think it’s high time i introduced to you another of Whimsical Wonderland Weddings vendor love family members :-)
Today i am thrilled to be getting to know the lovely and über talented Pete Cranston Photography. I so love Pete’s dreamy yet classic, emotional images and think you will too.
{w} Hi Pete, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?
I’m Pete, I’m originally from Belfast but after many homes in many places I now live in Bristol. I’m a husband to Jo and a dad to two boys.
I’m a wedding photographer, which makes me very happy.

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?
I love getting to meet so many wonderful people that want me to be there on their wedding day. I feel honoured to be the one to craft a visual record for them.
There’s nothing I dislike about the job. There are things I dislike about the industry. I think there are too many people out there with a ‘hit and hope’ approach, and when it comes to someone’s wedding day that just isn’t on. I truly believe that everyone should be able to have the very best record of his or her day, no matter what the budget.

{w} How did you get into photography and into the wedding industry?
I wasn’t brought up with a camera in my hand, but I’ve always been creative. I spent a long time as a well respected, fine dining chef, and although I loved what I did. I never felt it was satisfying my visually creative side. I began making short films and this eventually lead in to photography. I was working in London doing music and editorial work before finding my niche with portraiture. Wedding photography was the natural progression for my love of big events and small details.

Are you looking for a wedding photographer with vibrant, modern and fresh photography? Well you are in luck as today i introduce you to the newest memeber of the Whimsical Wonderland Weddings vendor love family, Dream in Colours.…
{w} Hi Shila, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?
Dreams in Colours was set up by myself to create beautiful photography for all occasions. Our team graduated from university with photography degrees, and entered the world of magazine and newspaper photography. I worked on titles including the Sun newspaper and Shortlist magazine, gaining invaluable experience in editing, photographing and directing.
After ten years in editorial, I decided to take the plunge and fulfil my own creative vision, doing something I love and feel passionate about. We share an approach that is fresh, non-invasive and imaginative, capturing moments in time that become memories for ever.

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?
Mmmm… their isn’t much I dislike about photography. My team have been working in the photography industry for over 15 years so everything we do is second nature us now. We get to meet and interact with great people. Also, the constant drive to achieve amazingness always keeps us on our toes.

{w} How did you get intophotography and into the wedding industry?
I started photographing at the age of ten and then progressed into a university degree and finally working as a photographer/Editor on magazines. I have always loved weddings so it was a natural path to take. I had a couple of friends who trusted me with their big day and thankfully it’s all worked out peachy.

Afternoon peeps, if you have yet to book your wedding photographer then this one is for you.
I have the pleasure of getting to know and view some of the work of the brilliant London based, Paul from Sixpence Wedding Photos. Whose work is classic and informal, which you will treasure for years to come. Lets get started shall we?
{w} Hi Paul, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?
My name is Paul Tanner, Tanner being the old name for a sixpence in old money and the name my father and I chose when we started working and exhibiting together in the ‘90s. I’m 36 years old, born in London, where I’ve always lived. I love it, the best city in the world and of course it has the most spectacular venues for weddings. I have a fine art degree and a professional photography qualification from the London School of Printing. I have been a professional photographer since 1999, and I have shot for many different clients in all manner of locations. I find this experience equips me perfectly when photographing weddings, enabling me to capture everything and respond to the candid and fleeting moments that make up the day.

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?
I love the atmosphere on wedding days, everyone’s smiling. There’s a nervous energy especially around the couple and the wedding party, bestman, parents etc that I find really exhilarating and inspires me to convey that in my photos. To capture the day in it’s entirety. Making photos that you can look back at again and again. I think the only thing I dislike about my job is the bad name given to us photographers by paparzzi snappers. Some of the things they do are frankly despicable and unfortunately sometimes we get tarred with the same brush.

{w} How did you get into photography and into the wedding industry?
I have my dad to blame for this, he is a great amateur photographer and so I was always using his cameras when I was growing up. He taught me how to develop film and print in a darkroom (our bathroom). I wrote to the local newspaper back in 1998 and started an apprenticeship with their photographer. I have and still do photograph for many different clients and weddings was a natural choice for me about 7 years ago. I love photographing people and what better time to do that when they are looking their best and really enjoying themselves?

Let’s finish Thursday with another new member of the ever fabulous Whimsical Wonderland Weddings vendor love family.
Ruby Love Photography creates fresh emotive photography. Denise is based in Glasgow but is available to travel to you where ever you may reside :-)
{w} Hi Denise, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?
I am Denise and I am Ruby Love Wedding Photography. I was a photojournalist and public relations photographer for a good few years, had a break and I now o wedding imagery. I called my business Ruby Love because my youngest daughter is named Ruby and I have spent the last few years uttering the words “Ruby Love!” and it struck me one day that it was such a perfect name for my work because of it’s obvious wedding connotations and its’ emotional attachment.

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?
I think what is great about the wedding photography industry these days is that it is much more personable, the wedding photographer is not the annoyance of old. You get to be natural, creative and quirky with your camera and couples really prize this because their day is uncommon and they want unique imagery.
This is not really a dislike but a word to couples; Delegate – like big time! Before your wedding day, make sure everyone has all bases covered so the two of you have nothing to do but experience and take pleasure in your remarkable day – and I can take remarkable images!

{w} How did you get into photography and into the wedding industry?
I started off in photojournalism and public relations photography and then I took a break while I increased the world’s population by four! When I was ready to return I could no longer do the “last minute availability” thing, which was the nature of that kind of work. So I took up portrait work and got asked to do some weddings. I adored it and my couples loved what I did. So wedding photography and I got hitched.

{w} What do you aim to achieve for your clients?
I want my couples to have an enchanting record of their day, with good photography they will never tire of looking at. I have an image in my mind of their children looking at their wedding book, asking questions and conjuring up delightful memories. More than that I want my relationship with my couples to be warm and easygoing and that means I get to understand what they are about and what they want.

I have some gorgeous images to share with you this afternoon courtesy of Matt Bowen Photography, who has popped by to tell us more about his fantastic timeless photography. I definitely think you are going to be wowed.

{w} Hi Matt, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?
Hi, I’m Matt, from mattbowen.co.uk, a wedding photographer who just happens to live in Cheshire but I do weddings all over the UK and even abroad. I’ve been lucky enough to have two careers I consider rather exciting. I was a radio journalist for 11 years, presenting the news and sport on stations in the North West. I then re-trained as a photographer and turned it into my job. So far I love every minute of it, and the good communication skills that I learnt in my first job often come in handy now.

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?
I love making people smile. When you hand them their pictures and see the look on their faces it gives me a massive sense of pride. I know I’ve done a really good job for them then.
I get really excited about each wedding I shoot. When I’m getting ready in the morning it’s like I’m going to one of my own friends weddings and I know I’m going to have loads of fun and a good laugh. I also like the fact that no matter how much money has been spent on a particular wedding, it’s always the bride and groom who make the day. The things that surround it are nice also but it’s the couple at the core.
I don’t massively dislike anything but I get a bit worried about the number of couples who will either go without photography at their wedding because they can’t afford it or they will pick someone who’s really cheap. I think most photographers understand the economic climate right now and there is always a deal to be done. I’ve done just that recently with a couple who weren’t going to have a photographer but we spoke and we’ve sorted out a great package for them that fits their budget. You just need to ask.
