You’re in for a real treat today lovely readers. Those of you with a love for the city and plenty of style are going to fall hook, line and sinker for this swoon worthy day.
WWW readers Becky and Matt tied the knot on the 1st April 2017 at The Rosendale Pub, West Dulwich in London. The vision was a simple, casual and relaxed wedding with a brilliant party and great tunes. Sounds pretty epic doesn’t it? It doesn’t stop there though, with divine bright florals used throughout, fun crustacean references as a nod to the engagement ring and a doughnut wedding cake too. Yum.
Becky’s dress was a real find. She wore a modern sheer lace dress by Temperley with awesome heart peep toe shoes. Didn’t she look amazing? Matt was very dashing in a blue suit and tan shoes, while the maids chose their own outfits. Such a special celebration.
The couple found their incredible photographer on these pages in Irene Yap, thanks Irene for sharing these splendid shots.
THE PROPOSAL | Matt proposed on my birthday while skiing in Megeve, on one of the best days skiing we have ever had. Matt proposed with a little crab ring from Alex Monroe as he knew I loved his jewellery. It’s a little random but I love it!
THE VISION | Matt and I just wanted a simple, relaxed London wedding with a fun party and great music.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | I wanted to keep planning really simple, I don’t plan anything so it was a bit daunting for me! Matt and I wrote a list of the things we definitely wanted and there were only about 10 things on it! I thought there must be more but once we found the venue all the planning was quite easy.
BUDGET | £13,000
THE VENUE | The Rosendale Pub, West Dulwich.
First job was to find a venue. I’m from South London all my family live there and most of our friends, so we both decided it was the best place for us. We knew we wanted a pub as we wanted to be quite casual but It took us a while to find one which was right for us, but when we saw the Rosendale it was perfect because you could get married there, have the reception, and it had a garden for the drinks reception if the weather was good. So it made the organisation really simple and it was just up the road from my sisters best friends house, who kindly lent me her house to get ready in. Sue who is in charge of overseeing the weddings at the Rosendale was so helpful and made everything so easy.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I wore an off the rack Temperley. I’m not a glizy person so I just wanted a really simple dress with a floral headband.
FINDING THE DRESS | I didn’t want a traditional dress, I just wanted something simple that I felt comfortable in. I tried loads on and they just weren’t me. I thought I would never find something that I loved. One day I was looking for some inspiration on some wedding blogs and a girl was wearing what looked like my dream dress, as I scrolled down it had the name and brand of the dress so typed it into google an up it popped in my size NBWT on ebay. I took a risk and it worked out perfectly as it was exactly what I wanted and it was a great price too I felt like I had won the lottery things like that never happen to me.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Matt wore a blue Paul Smith suit and a pale blue floral tie. We dedicated one day to finding Matt’s suit, he knew he wanted a light navy colour and he basically bought the first one he tried on, nice and simple!!
THE READINGS & MUSIC | One of my best friends did a read of Dr Sues ‘Oh the places you will go’ which was perfect as it represented us and its not gushy!!
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My bridesmaids were my sister and best friend, they are such different people that I would never put them in the same thing or colour, so they could choose their own dresses. I love that they had something that suited them and the miss match bright colours.
THE FLOWERS | I love flowers and these were the most important thing for me. I knew I wanted colourful spring flowers.
THE CAKE | I didn’t want a traditional wedding cake and something the guests could help themselves to. I came across Crosstown Doughnuts who do the most delicious flavours like apricot and lavender. So I decided to build a doughnut tower and have lots of mini doughnuts of different flavours surrounding.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The lovely Irene Yap, who I found on this website through a friends wedding.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | I just wanted to keep its simple and stress free so didn’t go over the top with decorations. I just wanted simple colourful flowers on the table and quirky table names, we went for crustaceans as a little nod to my ring.
THE HONEYMOON | We went to Sumatra, hiking to see orangutans and surfing off one of the islands. It was an amazing experience.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The band they were the best, they got everyone up on the dance floor and I felt like everyone was smiling.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Don’t take it to seriously and enjoy every moment.
