Cherry blossom trees, flower crowns, pastel tones and a super stylish loved up couple. What’s not to love?
WWW followers Katy and David chose to marry on the 3rd October 2015 and hosted their reception at Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey. The setting was so magical I was surprised that the venue was in the UK, what a brilliant find. The Wedding Lounge transformed the conservatory with amazing vibrant pink blossom trees, swags and the led dance floor. Plus there were some wonderful touches from the couple and their loved ones.
Now let’s talk about those outfits. The bridesmaids looked so pretty in their pastel hue Dessy dresses with dried flower crowns and bouquets. They complimented Katy’s boho look beautifully, she wore Kathleen by Jenny Packham teamed with Jimmy Choos. David headed to Jack Bunneys to have his suit custom made which looked very handsome.
Many thanks to Albert Palmer for sharing these stunning photographs.
THE PROPOSAL | Proposal happened on a weekend away in Windsor. David had been working long hours and studying for exams and we hadn’t seen a lot of each other so he booked the last minute break to get some quality time together. We went on a very long wet and windy walk down the famous long walk. That’s where he got down on one knee! We celebrated with a cream tea!
THE VISION | I didn’t really have a vision to begin with then at my first wedding fair with my bridesmaids I met my flower lady Sandra. She made amazing flower crowns out of dried preserved flowers and I loved them! And that was how it all started, I wanted me and my 7 bridesmaids to wear the crowns. So I guess my theme was vintage secret garden?
THE VENUE | We got married at St Martins church in Dorking Surrey and then had our reception at Denbies Wine Estate also in Dorking. It was perfect. The vines went on forever and made amazing photos. We had the wedding breakfast in the conservatory. It was beautiful. We covered the glass roof in fairy lights and I found an amazing company called The Wedding Lounge who hired out huge cherry blossom trees that we had put on every table. We loved them.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was Jenny Packham. It was beautiful. It was called the Kathleen which was very special to us as David’s nan who had passed away her name was Kathleen.
My shoes were Jimmy Choo and a present from my mother in law. I can’t wait to wear them again.
FINDING THE DRESS | I only went to one shop! Miss Bush in Ripley Surrey. It really is the most gorgeous shop. Set in an old chapel. It’s stunning. My dress was the 1st one I tried on and I just knew. I tried on a few more but nothing compared. I had my best friend Marie with me but I took my mum and David’s mum back the following week to show them.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | David had his suit made and hired his ushers. The suits were probably harder than the dress! After much research we went to a place called Jack Bunneys in Essex. They were brilliant. David looked amazing on the day and totally worth the 4 hour round trip every time he had a fitting!
THE READINGS & MUSIC | David’s brother Matt and my good friend Rebecca did our readings. Matt read a bible verse we chose and Rebecca read Bob Marley He is Not Perfect and Neither Are You.
My youngest sister Beccy sang for us while we signed the register. This was incredible and so very special. She sang a Hillsong song called Oceans and Mc Fly, It’s All About You. Everyone was crying!!!!
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had 7 bridesmaids. My 3 sisters Jo, Amy and Beccy. And friends Marie, Inger, Claire and Kelly.
They were amazing. Couldn’t of done it without them! The main thing I’ve learnt while planning our wedding is how lucky we are. We have such amazing people around us who love us unconditionally. My sisters are the love of my life (as well as David!) and I don’t know what I’d do without them.
They wore dresses by Dessy. I wanted them all in different pastel tones like little fairies. I chose the colours and then I let them choose the dress they wanted as I wanted them all to feel happy and comfortable. When they all came down dressed and ready I wanted to cry but didn’t want to ruin my make up. They all looked gorgeous.
Our hair and make up was by Inga and Kasia. They were heroes on the day! There was a lot of people to make beautiful and they did an amazing job and remained calm the whole time:) Kasia is a genius with hair and the bridesmaids loved what she did. Inga did my make up and 2 of the bridesmaids and I loved it so natural. My friend Arabella who is also a make up artist did my mum and sisters make up. She did it for my sisters wedding earlier this year and they loved it so we thought why change it!
THE FLOWERS | All my flowers were by the lady I met called Sandra. She was amazing. She made all the crowns, button holes and bouquets and came and dressed the top table to make it all lush and green like a secret garden. Her company is called Sophie and Luna.
THE CAKE | My mother in law Jennifer made the cake. It was beautiful. David’s nan passed away earlier in the year so I used one of her tea cups on top of the cake. It’s looked very effective and felt very special.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | My photographer was Albert palmer. He was brilliant. Someone I know put me in touch with him and I’m so happy they did. Our pictures are amazing and we are struggling to choose the ones for the album. We want them all!
Albert was great. We wanted lots of natural shots and not to posy. He completely got this and we hardly knew he was there. Can’t recommend enough.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | In the church my boss Tina made the hessian bows that were tied on the end of every pew!! It took her forever and I’m so grateful. I love them and have a few up in my house now as I can’t bear to get rid of them.
The Wedding Lounge did most of our décor. They did the cherry blossom trees and dressed and swagged all our tables and chairs. Me and David had throne chairs that we loved! They also put down the most incredible led light dance floor for the evening. It looked stunning. I must admit near the end of planning the wedding and the ever growing budget I did think oh gosh maybe I shouldn’t have booked the dance floor but I’m so glad I did. It made the room! They also put cocktail tables round the dance floor so people could stand and drink where the music was.
I used a company called Elsie Florence for all our crockery. Nothing matched and it looked brilliant for the vintage theme.
Another thing we did was give everyone a little rubber duck for favours! They all had name tags on! I’ve been duck mad since I was small! My friend Rebecca made all the name tags by hand. They matched the theme perfect. She also made all our invites too. We owe her a lot!
Our table plan was a huge mirror I found in an antique shop near where I work. My sister did all the writing on it! A very tense evening that day! But it looked perfect and we are going to put it up in our house.
THE HONEYMOON | Honeymoon is in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. We go in January and can’t wait. We booked it through Kuoni. Bit of adventure and then time to chill!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Memorable moments for me are my little sister singing for us. We are just busting with pride for her everyday. The other moment is the surprise singing waiters! The only people who knew were me my mum and the bridesmaids! They were brilliant. Really got the party started. Everyone was joining in up dancing. They were hilarious. David was so shocked!
I loved being on the dance floor with David in the evening. We were both completely relaxed by now and having fun with the ones we love the most.
I haven’t mentioned our DJ Chris. Great guy and brilliant at his job. The dance floor was full all night! With our invites we sent out rsvp’s and everyone had to send back a song they promised to dance to, so this made for a very interesting play list! I put out crates of flip flops for sore feet and they all went! There was lots of dancing.
We also had our day videoed by Smitten Wedding Photography. We didn’t want cheesy or people talking into the camera just a chilled video of our day. It’s nice to watch our vows back as that feels like a blur now!
Oh and a photo booth in the evening! So much fun. Everyone loved it and the silly pics are great to look back on!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | My advice would be to try and relax! I really struggled with this. It’s about you two and not everyone else. It’s your day doing what you want together and everyone is lucky to be there with you. Don’t sweat the small stuff and don’t loose sight of the bigger picture!
