Awww how cute is that little pup. Adorable :-) In fact this whole wedding is totally charming and beautiful.

WWW readers Jenny and Michael were married back in July of last year, opting to hold their wedding at Sand Hole Oak Barn. They hoped that their wedding would be relaxed with no set theme.

After attending a floristry course with her mum, Jenny created the utterly divine flower arrangements herself. Enjoying the process so much they decided to set up their own business; Lily Knight Flowers. I adore the bountiful bouquets of Peonies, Roses, Hydrangea and Astilbe plus the flower ladder seating plan and jars of florals. So much pretty!

Now lets talk about the fashion, Jenny donned a chic Essence of Australia dress with Diane Von Furstenberg heels and a fishtail plait. Michael was suited and booted in Reiss attire while the maids wore flirty sequin frocks.

Thanks so much to the ever brilliant Chris Barber Photography for providing the images today.

THE PROPOSAL | We were on a walk with our beloved hound Basll & we stopped off at a bench where we had committed a bit of vandalism a few years earlier by engraving our initials in to it. Michael got down on one knee with a rose gold and green amethyst & diamond engagement ring that I had pointed out a while ago and that he had to then have shipped from America…. ooops!

THE VISION | We didn’t really have a set vision in mind; I ended up with so many different ideas from looking at various blogs (including WWW!) & pinterest. We wanted a relaxed, informal feeling to the day with no set theme in mind and I suppose it worked out that everything that we ended up choosing/DIY’ing for our day were the things we wanted most without realising as lots of things we had planned didn’t happen but didn’t matter in the slightest in the end!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I loved the planning process! I may secretly have had a good idea of suppliers etc I would love to have should we get engaged so once that happened all it took was a quick check with Michael that my choices were good with him too and big things like photographer/videographer were sorted pretty quickly! So it wasn’t a stressful year at all – for me anyway. Michael and my mum did ALOT of the DIY for me so you will have to ask them if they felt at all stressed!!

BUDGET | £22k

THE VENUE | Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire was about an hour and a half away from our house in West Yorkshire. It kept popping up on google when I was trying to find the venue we wanted – a barny type place with accommodation for our nearest and dearest to stay over. I initially dismissed it as it seemed too far away for people to travel but in the end it turned out to be everything we wanted. We didn’t look at any other venue’s as it was pretty perfect for us! The barn itself is built on the family farm and we were well looked after in the run up to the wedding. Top Table Weddings & Events looked after us on the day and they are absolutely fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble, and the food was amazing.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I wore an Essence of Australia fishtail dress and Diane Von Furstenberg heels. I decided on a fishtail plait for my hair, created by my fab hairdresser Belinda. My head piece was from Doloris Petunia on Etsy. Each one is hand made and I had never actually seen it in the flesh so I was a tad nervous waiting for it to arrive from America but I needn’t have been as it was so pretty. I wore my great grandma’s engagement ring and a ‘slave bracelet’ also from Etsy on my right hand.

FINDING THE DRESS | I was 98% certain i would go for a fitted fishtail dress but did try some other styles on just to be certain. I visited 3 shops over 2 days and ‘the’ dress was purchased from Ava Rose Hamilton, such a beautiful shop. This experience was also pretty stress-free, it was made so much easier as I knew what I wanted.

GROOM’S ATTIRE | Michaels Suit was made to measure from Reiss. I loved helping him choosing his suit nearly as much as getting my dress! The service from Reiss was brilliant and getting to choose everything right down to the stitching colour and being able to have his initials and our wedding date stitched into the lining made it that bit more special. His tie and pocket square were also from Reiss, his shoes were from Ted Baker and I got him some cufflinks from Not on The High Street as part of his wedding present.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We booked an amazing live singer called Jade through Warble Entertainment. Jade played throughout the ceremony, the drinks reception and the meal. My mum did a reading by Bob Marley and one of our best friends, Mia read a poem that she had written herself. Michael’s mum also read a poem just before the meal by Gervais Phinn called ‘When I am old’. We had a band called Friends of The Bride for the evening – also booked through Warble Entertainment. They proved very popular with the guests and stayed and partied with us in the ‘after barn’ – really nice guys!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My beautiful bridesmaids had cream & gold sequin dresses, they were from Debenhams with nude heels from River Island. I didn’t want the formal bridesmaid look but also wanted them to feel fab on the day, it took a while and quite a few returned dresses but we got there in the end and they looked amazing. I let them choose how they wanted their hair and what accessories they wanted. They each wore a Kate Spade rose gold bangle I gave them on the morning as a thank you for being my best girls.

THE FLOWERS | In the January before the wedding myself and my mum decided to do a floristry course so we did all of the flowers ourselves a couple of days before the wedding. We loved doing them so much that we have now started a business called Lily Knight Flowers. For the flowers on the day we used a mixture of peonies, roses, hydrangea & astilbe for my bouquet. The girls had hydrangea bouquets and the boys had gypsophila buttonholes wrapped in twine. We had a vintage suitcase filled with flowers at the entrance of the venue and two floral hearts by the barn door and above the top table.

THE CAKE | We went for a cake of cheese for the cake, supplied from the brill Krave Deli in our village. The venue kindly decorated it for us and we provided chutneys and crackers.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Chris Barber = best.photographer.ever. We were so pleased with his work – we must have looked at our wedding photos a thousand times and each time we see something new in them. How he and his second shooter Hannah (also fab) were always in the right place at exactly the right time I do not know but we will be forever grateful to them both for capturing some amazing memories for us.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Each table name was a flower that I love (Michaels idea so it was a joint effort!) we used tree slices for the centre pieces and used lots of different containers we had collected/decorated over the year to hold the different flowers. The table plan was an old set of ladders that belonged to Michaels granddad that was painted up and now double up as shelves in our bedroom. I’m not really keen on chair covers and wasn’t going to have any but my Dad insisted after seeing the room dressed for a wedding when we went to visit the venue so we decided on cream covers with hessian sashes to keep it neutral. My mum hand made a heart shaped keepsake for all the girls that doubled up as their place names and we saved lots of corks in the run up that were used as the boys place names with lottery tickets tucked in behind them.

THE HONEYMOON | We flew to the south of France the day after our wedding, Staying in Nice for 10 nights and then getting the train up to Paris for 3 nights. It was an amazing 2 weeks that I would quite like to do all over again right this second!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | My Dad coming to collect me was an emotional moment and one neither of us will forget. I loved walking down the aisle towards Michael and seeing his face as I turned the corner. We both really enjoyed the ceremony – it was definitely one of my favourite parts of the day.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | We would 100% recommend getting a videographer – being able to watch our film including the ceremony and the speeches is priceless – especially when the memory-erasing jaeger makes an appearance! We also really appreciated that our caterers gave us time between each course to be able to go and spend some time at the guests tables – was lovely to be able to sit and have a chat with our nearest and dearest that had made such an effort to celebrate with us.
