WWW readers Sam and Verena had the sweetest of wedding days and used WWW for inspiration; “WWW was such a great resource in the lead up to our wedding! From the real weddings, to the inspiration Lou provided, I loved reading WWW!” Verena told me. YAY.
They had a real home made fun filled day with friends and family contributing to the arrangements. I adore the peony bouquets which Verena home made, the pretty bunting and quirky wedding cake.
Verena looked beautiful in a 1950s style tea length dress, while Sam donned a grey suit with fun bow tie.
Thanks so much to the brilliant To Have and To Hold for sharing their images with us.
The Proposal… We got engaged while camping in Cornwall. After a barbecue on a secluded bit of beach, Sam surprised me with a ring at sunset. It was perfect!
The Vision for the Day… We wanted a fun day, filled with our friends and family. We knew we wanted to get married in the church my family have always attended, and that we’d have a reception at a nearby village hall.
The Planning Process… I had a great time browsing the internet, Pinterest, and lots of wedding blogs, including WWW, for ideas! We were only engaged for 9 months, and were both studying at the same time, so we had to make decisions quite quickly. But the process was so much fun, and our friends and family were fantastic!
Budget… We didn’t have a specific budget, but we knew there were things we were happy to save money on, and other things worth splurging on!
The Venue… We got married at Wantage Methodist Church, and our reception was at the lovely Aston Tirrold & Upthorpe Village Hall.
The Dress + Accessories… I wanted a quick, stress-free wedding dress hunt! I was so relieved when I found a perfect dress online – it was ordered, and was the only dress I tried on! The fit was fantastic, and my mum did a wonderful job a few alterations! My earrings were a wedding gift from my parents, and were perfect. With a short dress, I knew my shoes were key, but I also wanted some that I’d wear again. I love the ones I found!
Groom’s Attire… Sam loved the excuse to get a new suit! I loved his choice of grey suit, and his bow tie was from Peckham Rye. His best men, ushers, and our dads all wore different bow ties, and we loved the overall look!
The Readings + Music… Our readings were Psalm 84, Genesis 2:18-24 and Ephesians 5:22-33. We really wanted reading that spoke about what marriage is all about.
Some of our wonderful friends led our worship. We sang Before the Throne of God Above by CL Bancroft, Amazing Grace by Chris Tomlin, Never Once by Matt Readman, and 10,000 reasons by Matt Readman. These songs are four that we love singing at our church in London.
Beautiful Bridesmaids… I had six wonderful bridesmaids, who were scattered across different cities, countries and continents until a few days before the wedding! I loved the mismatched look for bridesmaids, and this worked perfectly in our situation. I picked a colour scheme, and created a bit of a mood board for the girls, and they each picked their own dresses. The first time the dresses were all in the same room was on the morning of the wedding – I could not have been happier with how they looked together! I love that the girls each had a dress that they chose, and suited them – I have loved seeing photos of them wearing their dresses again!
The Flowers… We bought the flowers as a wholesale delivery, which was great. Then I, along with help from bridesmaids and my mum, made the bouquets, buttonholes and table decorations. I was really insistent that I wanted to make my own bouquet, and I’m so glad that I followed it through as I was so pleased with the end results.
A lovely lady from my parents church did the flower arrangements in the church based upon the flowers we had in our bouquets.
The Cake… A friends mum had made her wedding cake, and was happy to make ours! We were so happy with the cake, and the bunting detail was exactly as we’d hoped. The cake toppers were wooden figures that my sister and I painted as a surprise for Sam.
Your Photographer… Simon was fantastic! We met at our church in London, and he seemed to get our vision for the day – we are so happy with the photos!
The Details + Decor… I made a lot of bunting in the run up to the wedding! Along with the flowers on the tables, this really tied the whole room together.
The Honeymoon… Thanks to family and friends, Sam and I spent a lovely 10 days in Toulouse, France, which was perfect.
Memorable Moments… The whole of the wedding ceremony. Sitting on the top table, looking at our friends and family, feeling so so blessed. Our first dance. So many memories!
Advice for Other Couples… Enjoy it all! Have fun, and always be the best of friends.
