Let’s start the day with an elegant and chic affair shall we?
Kaeren and Jamie tied the knot on 14th September 2013 and wanted a relaxed simple and vintage feel wedding day with their reception at a London pub. They had the most beautiful blooms and the loveliest stationery.
Kaeren looked beautiful in her vintage lace dress which she teamed with a birdcage veil and gold heels, while Jamie went for a dashing blue suit with stripe tie. Such a special day.
Thanks so much to the wonderful Hayley Savage for sharing her images with us today.
The Proposal… A crazy night in London, a little premature than it should have been but exciting nonetheless, that’s all I can say.
The Vision for the Day… We wanted a relaxed, simple and vintage theme, nothing too outlandish or crazy. My dress was a vintage lace ensemble therefore we wanted everything else to fit into that category. We always wanted it to be a relaxed wedding so a London pub for the reception was perfect for us.
The Planning Process… After living overseas (Cayman Islands) for a year the planning came along quickly, we booked our venues, the gorgeous Stoke Newington Town Hall and The Peasant public house in Clerkenwell and everything fell into place from there. Along the way I was lucky enough to win my hair and make-up in a competition sent to me by a friend, it was a great extra surprise to the wedding planning!
Budget… We kept the cost down by utilising the skills of friends and family for our wedding, my best friend made the favours, my Mum the wedding cake and my other friend made our table plan, place names and table names with her calligraphy skills, we managed to keep the whole day down below £12000.
The Venue… Ceremony – Council Chambers at Stoke Newington Town Hall – gorgeous art deco town hall which really suited our needs. Reception venue at The Peasant, Clerkenwell – the most amazing London pub ever!!! The food was amazing, most of our guests said it was the best food they have had at a wedding EVER!! The staff and Nick the manager were amazing and so organised and made us feel totally at ease about everything, we could not have asked for a better venue to hold the wedding.
The Dress + Accessories… Vintage Lace dress bought second hand from Rock my Wedding website, Twigs and Honey veil, Bertie shoes and earrings from the groom.
Finding the Dress… Amazingly it was the first dress I came across and I loved it so much I just took the plunge!!
Groom’s Attire… Jamie always wanted a handmade suit so he went to Savile Row to get one made, the suits for the best men were bought from M&S, but went really well with Jamie’s attire.
The Readings + Music… An Apache wedding blessing read by our best friend Sonali De Alwis. The bride entrance music was ‘Music when the Lights go out’ by the Libertines as when myself and Jamie got together and I would stay over at his that was the alarm clock song that would wake us up every morning. The song for the signing of the register was Brand New Day by Kodaline as our friend has worked with them and we love their album, also it is a Brand New Day for us!
Beautiful Bridesmaids… No bridesmaids as I have too many wonderful friends to choose from.
The Flowers… The flowers were sorted out through the wonderful Fabienne at McQueens in Old Street, such beautiful bouquets, button holes and corsages for my girls. Also the flowers for the reception were wild flowers in gorgeous vintage milk bottles I sought from EBay.
The Cake… My Mum made the cake, it was a yummy 3-tier sponge cake with butter cream icing, she did such an amazing job.
Your Photographer… The wonderful Hayley Savage, who was professional, amazing and the best photographer a bride could ask for. When our baby comes along we may get in touch about some baby pics!!
The Details + Decor… No décor was needed for the pub as it is just so quirky and beautiful anyway, we decorated the tables with table names and our favour boxes and the flowers, simple and vintage.
The Honeymoon… After finding out about the pregnancy our plans changed a little from 3 weeks touring Vietnam to 2 weeks around the UK in January, we are doing it exceptionally swanky though staying in some gorgeous spa hotels.
Memorable Moments… Jamie announced our pregnancy in his grooms speech as we had only had our 12 week scan the Thursday before the wedding.
Advice for Other Couples… Utilise your friends and family for their skills. In regards to food, stick to your guns and have the dishes you want – it is your wedding don’t forget!
