I have one lovely story and some gorgeous images to share with you this fine Bank Holiday Monday :-)
Stina and Matt met at a gig where Matt was playing, 6 years later and Matt popped the question in Berlin. They headed out into Cardiff dressed in their retro finery for their engagement shoot. I so love these fun, intimate and vibrant images and Stina and Matt have a perfect love story.
Thanks so much to the brilliant Morgan Wiltshire for sharing her images with us today.
Stina told me; “I met Matt in September 2006 in Newport, South Wales. He was in a local band with a mutual friend of mine and I had gone to see their band play with my friends. We were introduced by friends after the gig and after a very brief chat we swapped numbers. Within a week we had our first date at a festival in Newport and really just clicked straight away. We could never have imagined how well we were going to get on.”
“6 years later Matt proposed to me in the street outside a café when we were on holiday in Berlin. I’m quite mad about teddy bears and he had secretly brought one of my bears with us on holiday. He asked me to close my eyes whilst we were having a coffee after a perfect day of cycling and exploring in our favourite city. When I opened them, one of my bears was sitting on the table with a note; the note explained that Matt had something to ask me. Matt then proceeded to tell me that he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and pulled out a ring box. He got down on one knee (in the street in front of everyone) and asked me to marry him. I of course was shocked and confused and after firstly asking him…”are you sure?” I said “yes!” The ring fitted perfectly and we went back to our hotel to drink champagne from plastic cups! It was the best day of my life (So far).”
“The engagement shoot was a fantastic experience. Morgan was really a great photographer to work with. She made us relax and was also great with giving us direction as to how she wanted us to stand, pose or just to be natural. The photo shoot felt strange at first as we have never been photographed together in that way, Morgan quickly helped us relax by continually talking to us, calming us, and also complimenting us. My Matt is a serial “blinker” but Morgan and her partner worked with magic and somehow got some smashing shots, especially when Matt spends most of his time looking like he’s sleeping in photographs!
Morgan had given guidance on possible outfits that we could wear to help the shoot have that special look, though all of the clothes we were wearing were our own and nothing was bought for the shoot. I have a love of 1950s fashion and music and I think Morgan really encapsulated our personalities and love of the 50s in the shoot. Morgan also chose the location; we were really happy with it as we love living in Cardiff, it is such a wonderful city and Cardiff Bay hosts many of Cardiff’s iconic views.”
“We don’t want to give any secrets away yet but we are getting married at the start of August 2013. We didn’t start planning until quite late so we were really lucky that Morgan was available to do our wedding photography. We are getting married at a venue in Cardiff and having the whole day and evening in the same venue. This has made things considerably easier. We were very fortunate to find somewhere that we could get married in peak wedding season and on a Saturday too! Most other things have been planned or booked. Suits have been bought and arrived; my dress is on order and is currently being made. The main things left to do are look for a hair/make-up artist and a live band for the evening event. We want to try and be well organised so that there is less stress closer to the time. We are very much looking forward to it.”
Just lovely, if Stina and Matt’s shoot is anything to go by their wedding is set to be amazing :-) Thanks so much for sharing guys XOXO Lou
