A Romantic Woodland Engagement ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

I have been super excited to share Amy and Josh’s engagement and wedding story for a while now and i am excited i get to share this lovely couple’s story with you all today.

WWW readers Amy and Josh met at a charity salsa dance fast forward and Josh surprised Amy with a romantic woodland engagement. They of course headed back to the woods, full of beautiful bluebells for their shoot and the results are gorgeous.

Thanks so much to he wonderful Ruby Roux Photography for sharing her images with us today.

Amy told me;Josh and I met almost 4 years ago at a charity salsa dance, not knowing at the time that several people (including the host) were trying to set us up. Josh blew me away with his questionable dancing skills and immense height, and still does to this day. After that evening we arranged to meet up again, and for our first date Josh decided it would be a good idea for us to take a trip to the driving range (even though we both hate golf) – something we have only done together once since! It can’t have been too bad though, as we’re still going strong and are now looking forward to our wedding!”

“Being Christians, we always knew that we wanted to get married, and with three of my closest friends married and two engaged, it’s fair to say a few hints had been dropped, but as we were saving up a deposit for our first flat Josh assured me it wouldn’t be happening for a while. But little did I know the little scamp had already taken my sister to Brighton, designed his own ring and had it custom made, and asked for my parents’ permission. So in early December he took me to Rackham woods near Arundel – the location of various walks, camping trips and our first kiss (although Josh later admitted he had forgotten that!), with a hand-selected hamper of delicious treats, including my favourite lemon and poppy seed muffins (handmade by the man himself), and the obligatory flask of earl grey. And it was there, after some delay tactics including lunges (!), that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, to which there was only ever one answer.”

“I knew Liz through my parents, and Josh and I both absolutely loved her photos – she can make anything and everything look good. Not being fans of the camera we both felt slightly dubious about the engagement shoot, but Liz made us feel at ease straight away and we ended up having loads of fun, in fact I’m surprised we’re not snorting with laughter in every picture! We decided to have part of the shoot at Sleepy Hollow in Storrington as we visited it a few months ago and loved it, and apart from the occasional dog-walker who sat on a bench to watch us, it was the perfect setting and we’re so happy with the photos!”

I love all this, you are soooooo flippin talented Elizabeth. The woodland shots would be amazing even if nobody was in frame. I think the use of props is a great idea and must add a huge amount of fun to the shoot. Wish we knew you when we got hitched :-) We took all our wedding photies ourselves :-)

As one of 'those people from the salsa night' who worked out where Amy would have to stand to be partnered with Josh (!) I can say whole heartedly how these fantastic photos capture their love and personalities. I can't wait to relive the wedding later, Liz truly was an amazing photographer!
