{w} Hi Oliver, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?

I’m Oliver, I live in a tiny house, in tiny village in Staffordshire with my wonderful fiancé and a naughty Golden Retriever! Together, we run The Poppy Trading Company, bringing you lovely unique vintage furniture to hire for your wedding. I’m getting married in April after 10 wonderful years with my long suffering partner, and have never been more excited (or happy) in all my life :)

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?

I absolutely love beautiful things! So having a job where I’m surrounded by gorgeous, elegant furniture all day long is wonderful. Whether I’m buying new pieces, or restoring old ones, I’m in heaven! And on top of that, I get to share all of these wonderful things with you lovely couples out there getting married. What could be better?

The only drawback is that I can’t keep any of this lovey furniture in our house due to a certain Poppy the dog (yes, ‘the’ Poppy!) and her fondness for chewing!

{w} How did you get into furniture hire and into the wedding industry?

I’ve always enjoyed working with old furniture, buying pieces from auctions, and bringing them back to restore, recycle, and re-home them. When friends and family started asking to borrow pieces for parties and events, we had our ‘eureka’ moment and decided to make our collection available to everyone. Since then, we’ve been growing our collection as much as possible, trying to find something for everyone.

{w} What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

Let us help you to make your wedding décor fabulous! That’s all we ask. We’ll do all we can to take you from an initial idea of the sort of thing you want, to final setting up and styling on the big day itself. The important thing is that the client gets exactly what they want on their big day.

{w} What style is your furniture?

We’ve got a lovely mix of furniture at Poppy Trading available for hire. We’ve got antique, vintage, shabby, retro, wartime, even some modern classics, all with their own unique style.

{w} Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?

I’m a firm believer in clear costs, especially when planning something as important as your wedding. That’s why you’ll find all of our prices on the website, so there’ll be no nasty surprises!

Our furniture starts at £3.25 / chair for mismatched dining chairs, to £75 for our beautiful antique leather sofa.

You can collect the furniture yourself from our workshop, or we can deliver, set-up and collect everything for you.

{w} Do you have any tips for couples in selecting suppliers?

Go with your heart, and trust your gut. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of going with what’s sensible and normal for a wedding to keep everyone happy. But it’s your day and it’s a one off, so make it yours, make it fun, and pick the suppliers you love, whoever they are.
