Afternoon lovelies :-) this afternoon i have the utter pleasure of introducing the lovely Sharron from The Image Garden Photography, WWW sponsor and wedding photographer extraordinaire.

Sharron captures the most beautiful, elegant and natural shots of her couples. Anyway enough from me  lets get to know Sharron and see some of her gorgeous shots…

{w} Hi Sharron, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?

I’m Sharron and I run The Image Garden Photography. I’m a mummy to two wonderful, unique and hilarious little people, Will and Greta. They make me smile, yes, even at 5am in the morning!…well, most of the time. My partner Dom and I are getting in married next year (I know were doing things round the wrong way). It’s so interesting to be on the other side of the wedding industry.

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?

I’m totally and utterly in love with everything about this job. From the clients I meet, to other photographers, bloggers and other wedding suppliers. This is an incredible industry to work in and I feel blessed to be a little teeny part in it all. I love the creativity of being behind the camera and it’s a great to be able to push myself and grow, there’s always something new to learn. Photography and wedding photography, in particular, is always evolving, changing and challenging me, and I love that.

{w} How did you get into photography and into the wedding industry?

I used to be a BBC news producer for many years, but photography was my real passion, so I decided to try and combine the two by doing an MA in Photojournalism. It was a great course and I learned loads, but it wasn’t until I photographed a friends wedding and used the elements of photojournalism to record their day, that I completely fell in love!

{w} What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

A beautiful, unique and emotional visual record of my couples wedding day. I want my images to reflect their personalities, sense of fun and love as much as possible.

{w} What style is your work?

I call my style ‘creative reportage’ or ‘documentary with a twist’. It isn’t pure photojournalism, but it is very natural. I don’t interfere with the proceedings of the day and I don’t give instructions. But I do love the time I spend with the couple during their portrait session. I may only have 5 minutes or I may have 25, but it’s such a lovely time away from guests – a few moments to reflect and breathe together.

{w} Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their wedding photographer?

Fundamentally, make sure you LOVE the photographers’ photos. Try and imagine yourself in their photographs…

And don’t be afraid to ask your photographer lots of questions and/or come up with ideas of your own. I love that, it pushes our creativity to try new things!
