Edd and Claire were married in July in a Church ceremony, with reception drinks at a steam railway, followed by a teepee reception on farm… woah :-) They wanted their wedding to be full of loved ones having a great time, picking things they loved on their planning journey. Claire describes their day as being a “mix up mash of Cornish farmer, woodland wildflowers, hippie chic with a bit of vintage thrown in”.

I so love the fun laid back vibe of their day, from the pretty local flowers, to the quirky wedding signs. Claire’s hair style is simply amazing and i adore Edd’s yellow shoes. What a gorgeous pair.

The Proposal…. A picnic on a hill overlooking lake Geneva

The Vision for the day…. I’m not one of those girls who has thought about their wedding since they were 5. So being honest we really didn’t have too much of a specific vision. We just had certain criteria, which was really important to us, mainly around all our most favourite people coming together to have a really fantastic time and the location was always going to be Cornwall. We therefore just picked stuff we liked, which I think ended up expressing our personalities quite well. It ended up being a mix up mash of Cornish farmer, woodland wildflowers, hippie chic with a bit of vintage thrown in….

The Planning process…. The planning process was all pretty relaxed really. Edd, being a designer, was also interested in it all the prep, so it was a real joint effort. I think it helped that I love a bit of excel spreadsheeting and I had no fixed ideas on what I wanted. So as mentioned above we just picked and booked stuff we really liked and it all came together really nicely. The most planned part of the wedding though has to be my father building his very own toilet and shower block in our field, especially for the wedding….apparently the rental of posh toilets was just not an option!!!

The Venue… Wedding Service: St Thomas the Apostle – Launceston. Champagne Reception: Launceston Steam Railway – my Dad is really good friends with the owners of this museum and often drives the train for them (brilliantly, my dad is called Ivor – so he really is Ivor the Engine!!! Ha ha). They were absolutely amazing and allowed us use of the railway, just for our wedding! It was amazing! Reception: My Dad’s field in Tregadillett (the field where I grew up)

Finding the dress…. For me this was the scariest part of the wedding process. I’m not a girly girl and I don’t often get really dressed up so I was completely unsure of what I wanted. I looked through a couple of mags and ripped out dresses I liked….then I went to a bridal shop to try some on. I totally didn’t expect to find my dress there and then. But after trying on about 10 dresses – there it was! I think, in the end my not knowing what I wanted was slightly to my favour as I was completely open minded to everything, so had no unobtainable expectations. I absolutely adored my dress!

The Readings + Music…. We decided to have church wedding. We got married in the same church as my late Down Gran and Grandad (they lived down the road – rather than Up Gran and Grandad who lived up the road)… so we had a bible reading, which Edd’s mum choose and read. Then my friend picked and adapted Edward Monkton’s, A Lovely Love Story. It was brilliant, she read it so beautifully and totally changed it to suit Edd and I. It was the one part of the wedding that brought a tear to my eye! First dance – ‘Combine Harvester’ – The Wurzels

Beautiful bridesmaids….. We choose Dessy dresses for the bridesmaids – we purchased them in Le Trois Soeurs in London http://www.lestroissoeurs.co.uk/. Their hair, as was mine, was done by my very good friend Benjamin Robbins. They choose their own jewellery, shoes and wellies.

The Flowers… ‘Flowers by Donna Cornish’ – http://www.flowersbydonnacornish.co.uk/. All the flowers were locally sourced and Donna was just amazing!

The Cake… Michelle Culverhouse (Family member)

Your Photographer…. Alexa Loy  www.alexa-loy.com. As is plainly obvious from the photos she was probably our best find, wedding days come and go but the pictures last for ever. Not only did she really capture the mood of the day but she was good fun to have her around. One word…. AMAZING!

The Honeymoon…. Bali – 2 weeks – Booked flights 2 days before wedding, booked first night in hotel on the way to the airport! Had the best time ever……

Memorable moments… Lou Lou’s reading in the church and the huge reception she received when she’d finished! Champagne reception on the steam train. The wellies….and so many of them!!! The first dance – can’t bet a bit of brand new combine harvester! The Band (Freshly Squeezed) – a seven piece funk and ska band from Plymouth!!! They were out of this world…..so much so that we heard feedback that most of the village opened their windows and cracked open a drink to have a listen!!! The tipis – it made the atmosphere so gorgeous….who toasts marshmellows on a fire in a marquee!!! I love it!!! The list goes on obviously we’re massively biased. But it was an amazing day!

Advice for other couples… Don’t let it stress you out, try not to build expectations too high and take step back to enjoy the actual day!!!
