G and i have been engaged for 5 years this week and it’s just crazy how time has flown. It was also meant to be our 2 year wedding anniversary on the same day, and you know what i was just fine about it.

It got me thinking though about the ‘point’ of a long engagement. Have any of you been engaged for a long time before heading up the aisle? Or are you planning your weddings as soon as you got engaged?

We went through a process of planning straight off, then waiting for 3 years, then planning again before having to cancel. I’m wondering if i will be ‘always the blogger, never the bride’?

To us it doesn’t matter that we are not married yet, and we are in no rush. We are happy and content as is our little boy, so that is our focus. Plus the fact we are saving like mad to try and move house in the not to distant future. Is it right to keep putting off the wedding for whatever reason? Well i think it depends on the person, for us it’s right. For now i will enjoy your weddings, and you know what its quite fun being engaged for so long as you can pretend you are planning your wedding all the time ;-) I think in my head i’ve dreamed a hundred different weddings hehe!!

Like me scouting wedding venues ↑

Instead of focusing on what we cant celebrate we’ll be focusing on what we can. With our 7 year anniversary round the corner and little A’s birthday this weekend. This time of year sure keeps us busy.

I am a believer of enjoying the present to be truly happy.

You know last week i said i went out on my bicycle. Well G managed to convince me to ride 9 miles… round a lake… with hills!! Ouch!! It was lovely though, and we also went for a walk in the woods and collected leaves to make a picture. I think i still ache now ;-)

Let me share a peek of whats to come this week on WWW:

    Happy anniversary!

Yesterday Gareth and I decided to postpone our wedding for a year, we were planning on getting married on the anniversary of the date we met, which is next April. BUT, also next April, we are now expecting another baby, so the wedding plans are going on hold. I mostly don't mind, we are so happy and I know it will happen one day and like you in my head I have planned a hundred different types of wedding day!

ahhh Lou, lovely post. I have just been at a wedding where the main ingredient was stress and there was a total loss of focus on what the day was meant to be about, and this is a breath of fresh air to read. xx

Happy anniversary!!! I think a long engagement is great - why not, its all about what works for you!! My and my boyf have been together for over 10 years and will have been together for over 11 years by the time we marry in 2013 - not a VERY long engagement at 1.5 years. For me its what works for the couple, what does it matter to be engaged or married - to be together is the important stuff!! :)

Lady, you'll either do it when you're ready or maybe you'll never do it at all. Either way it doesn't matter as long as you and G are happy and I know you are. xxx

Our wedding plans are on hold too and while sometimes i'm like you and wonder if it will ever happen i just remember that the present is far more important than the future. What matters is your happiness now and that you're enjoying each others love and company :)

I think sometimes we forget that we don't have to be like everyone else and whatever works for us is blooming well fine! One reason why I love WWW is because you always encourage us to be ourselves and make our wedding however we want it to be (and WHEN ever we want it to be).
