I thought i’d be really cheeky and pop an extra wedding up this afternoon ;-) I couldn’t resist hehe!!
Gemma and Arthur were married in May at The Bay Hotel in Burford. They wanted their wedding to be small, simple and set in the Coltswolds. They tried to keep their budget low by being creative and roping in their friends to help.
I adore Gemma’s bridal bun, how stylish does she look, her Naomi Neoh dress is just beautiful too. I love the white colour scheme, the maids look so pretty with their simple yet beautiful blooms. This is one super pretty country wedding, le sigh.
Thanks so much to the lovely Renira and Jane Photography for sharing their photography with us today.

Names… Gemma and Arthur
Wedding Date… 12th May 2012
The Proposal… Montmarte in Paris in beautiful little bar. We were meeting friends and they were early and very nearly witnessed Art’s proposal. It was a wonderful evening spent with our friends (one of whom was one of my bridesmaid – Jessica and her boyfriend – Nick, was Arthur’s best man) – and lots of wine and good food!
The Vision for the day… Something very small/simple/cotswoldy – just having all of our close family and friends to celebrate with us was the ideal.
The Planning process… Rather manic – Arthur likes to leave things to the last minute! :-) It all fell into place though and we could not of wished for a better day.
Budget…. We did try and keep to a budget by trying to be creative and calling on our friends for their help. One of my friends, Sian, helped me to hand make the invites and another of my friends, Sophie, offered to do mine and my bridesmaid’s hair. The DJ was also a friend – we just hired the equipment. We did manage to stick within our budget which was good.
The Venue… The Bay Hotel in Burford. The staff were amazing and it was a wonderful venue.
The Dress + Accessories… The dress was from Naomi Neoh – based in East Dulwich in London. All of their dresses are beautiful and the ladies (Emilie and Naomi) were fantastic! My necklace and earrings were very simple pearls and gold – they came from Ernest Jones.
Finding the dress… I found it in the first shop I went in. I went to several other dress shops, but I’d already made up my mind.
Groom’s attire… Ted Baker suits. Ivory coloured ties.
The Readings + Music… We didn’t have any readings. The music was all chosen by us – we made a massive playlist for the drinks reception, dinner and evening do. The song that I walked down the aisle to was ‘Oh la la’ by the faces and the song that we walked out together to was ‘Really Need Love’ by the Bees.
Beautiful bridesmaids… My maid of Honour was Becky Buckley (I’ve known since I was 14). My other bridesmaids were Jane Nutt (my cousin’s wife – I was her maid of honour when she got married), Jessica Evans (Arthur’s best man’s girlfriend – we’ve known them both for years) and Kate Tindsley (Arthur’s sister).
The Flowers…. Eden Flowers in Burford.
The Cake…‘Cakes by Rachael’ – based in Charlbury. She was amazing – best cake I’ve ever had.
Your Photographer… Renira and Jane Photography. They were both so wonderful – we couldn’t have wished for a better pair to photograph our wedding and we’re so pleased with the photographs.
The Details + Décor… It was a bit of a mish mash really, but it seemed to work in the end! The flowers really helped and gave us that country/Cotswold look that we wanted.
The Honeymoon… We went to a place called the Scarlet Hotel – not far from Padstow in Cornwall. We had a lovely time and went to some great restaurants, cycled the camel trail, tried a bit of surfing and lots of walking. It was idyllic!
Memorable moments… Too many to possible mention! Some funny moments – definitely our drunken second dance to Journey ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ – everyone literally parted to let us dance and cheer us on. Also, another funny moment – a lot later in the evening (the music had finished) we were serenaded by all of our friends at the bar. We were told to name any song and they’d sing it. It was awesome to have over 30 of your friends and family drunkenly singing to us.
Advice for other couples… Try to keep calm and call on lots of favours from your friends. It’s much more fun when you get your friends involved.
