Kevin and Lucy were married in May at The Barn at Bury Court, Hampshire. They wanted a relaxed feel to their wedding with light hearted fun throughout.
One of my favourite elements of this day has to be Lucy’s dress, i think i just fell in love!! She purchased her Rosa Clara at the renowned Miss Bush Bridal, Surrey. Doesn’t she look stunning, i love her relaxed almost bohemian bridal look.
Their day has romance stamped all over it, with pretty pale pink elements, and the most wonderful photography.
Thanks so much to the brilliant Kristian Leven Photography for sharing his beautiful images with us today.

Names…. Kevin & Lucy
Wedding Date…. Saturday 19th May 2012
The Proposal…. At the top of Half Dome mountain at Yosemite National Park, California. We set off at 05:30am for a 5 hour trek to the very top. Kevin produced a heart shaped temporary ring (through fear of losing/damaging something expensive) whilst looking out over Yosemite. We then went shopping back in England for the real ring and purchased a beautiful one from Mappin and Webb.
The Vision for the day…. Overall we wanted a very relaxed feel to the day. From the ceremony to the reception entertainment we wanted everything to be light hearted and fun for all involved.
The Planning process…. We had an 18 month engagement so we got the big items booked around 16 months in advance to ensure that we were not disappointed. Lucy created a budget tracker and To Do list which helped us to manage all aspects of the wedding planning and to make sure that nothing was forgotten about.
Budget…. The budget was £25k but including rings and the Honeymoon, we went over this by a small amount
The Venue… A beautiful converted barn in Bentley. The Barn at Bury Court http://www.burycourtbarn.com/ .
The Dress + Accessories….. Purchased this a year in advance from Miss Bush http://www.missbushbridalwear.co.uk/ . I chose a dress by Rosa Clara called Escocia which was a boned bodice with a silk tulle skirt. The dress originally had straps which I had removed and I customised other aspects of the dress. It was originally £2700 but I bought the sample dress and got it for £1700 which included all alterations and fittings. Hair – I wanted a natural, non-fussy look. I don’t wear my hair up so chose to have it down with a loose curl. Accessories – Pearl Stud earrings
Finding the dress…. This was one of the first dresses I tried on out of a total of 9 at Miss Bush. Off the hanger I wasn’t entirely sure but once the shop assistant helped me to accessorise and visualise what it could look like, I knew it was the one for me.
Groom’s attire… Kevin tried on Morning Suits but didn’t feel particularly comfortable in it for his own wedding. He opted for a Contemporary Dark Blue 3 piece suit with dusty pink accessories for him and Best Man and Ivory accessories for the Ushers.
Hired from a local tailor http://www.roomten.co.uk/ .
The Readings + Music…. 2 readings found by Lucy on the internet which were both light-hearted and heart warming. A Lovely Love Story read by Lucy’s cousin Alexandra Newman http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/community/forums/thread/188431 Saga Love Kevin’s Dad, Rod Andrews http://www.itakeyou.co.uk/wedding-ideas/wedding-readings-poems/unititled.htm .
Music – Lucy walked down the aisle to the Eva Cassidy version of At Last. Our first dance was the Eva Cassiy version of Bridge Over Troubled Water which was sung by our live band. For the reception drinks we hired a saxophonist.
Beautiful bridesmaids….. Katie Hanes, Melanie Marsden, Jenny Seamen, Colette Whelan, Claire Vernon.
The Flowers… Provided by our very talented sister in Law, Nicola Andrews http://www.nicolaandrews.co.uk/ . We wanted a classic/romantic feel so chose pink roses. For the tables we chose tall Martini vases filled with pink roses and hydrangea. The beams in the barn were decorated with Ivy and roses. Bridesmaids Bouquet – Ivory roses. Brides Bouquet – Vendela, Sweet Avalanche & Cream Garcia Roses.
The Cake… We made a decision that we didn’t want to spend a lot of money on the cake so we went for a plain and simple one from Marks and Spenders which cost £180. Got great feedback though.
Your Photographer…. We didn’t want to go for the standard staged photographs as we prefer the reportage style of photography. We came across the exceptionally talented Kristian Leven on Facebook and there was no turning back after that http://kristianlevenphotography.co.uk/ .
The Details + Decor…. The one thing we really liked about the barn was the fact that it was a blank canvas and we could do what we liked to it. We decided to go all out on flowers which really helped create the romantic feel we were aiming for. All of the invites, name tags, order of ceremony etc. Were hand made by Lucy and had a recurring theme of a single pink rose.
The Honeymoon…. 5 amazing days on Safari in South Africa staying at the amazing Madikwe Hills Private Game Reserve http://www.madikwehills.com/. 10 luxurious days in Mauritius staying in the incredible Constance Prince Maurice hotel http://princemaurice.constancehotels.com/ .
Memorable moments… The speeches – our best man sang with a red wig on! Lucy getting ready in the morning with the Bridesmaids. Kevin’s first sight of Lucy walking down the aisle. Having everyone you love in the same room.
Advice for other couples… Enjoy every moment because it goes too fast. Take a moment on the day to stand by yourselves and look out at your guests so as you can take a snapshot in your mind of the best day of your life. If you’re going to go on Honeymoon the day after the wedding prepare for this as far in advance as possible. Don’t worry about the weather because it really will never affect the day.
