I must admit i got emotional whilst compiling this feature. Being a country bumpkin, i cannot imagine not being in the rolling countryside. So when i read that Trish and Francis are from Hong Kong and hadn’t been anywhere near nature for some years, it really touched me.
Whist travelling to Ireland they decided to have their engagement pictures, and for me these shots are almost primal. A couple in love rediscovering nature through the beautiful Irish landscape. From the ancient forest to the deserted beach and the Giant’s Causeway. These images are natural and just breathtaking.
Thanks so much to the amazing This Modern Love for sharing their photography with us today.

Tim and Claire tell me about the lovely couple: “Trish and Francis are from Hong Kong. They hadn’t been in a forest, or anywhere close to nature, for many years. So when Francis was visiting Ireland on business, Trish decided to join him, in search of wide open spaces and experiences of the rugged Irish outdoors.”

“Trish and Francis are getting married in December and couldn’t find anyone in Hong Kong that takes engagement photographs in a style that they like. They wondered if there might be someone in Ireland. They found our work, and connected with our love of landscape and light. It was a perfect fit.”

“We took Trish and Francis to some wild and mythical places. An ancient forest, a deserted beach, and in the end, to the Giant’s Causeway – strange, hexagonal volcanic rocks formed 60 million years ago – home, as legend has it, to the ancient Irish giant, Finn McCool!”

“Hong Kong is very densely populated – the Irish countryside is not! So at first Trish and Francis were a little freaked out by the lack of human beings in the places we took them to. But soon they began to relax and allowed themselves to soak up the beauty and silence.
We tend not to use props or style our shoots very heavily. Capturing the small moments between two people in love, using nature and light in interesting ways, is what it’s all about for us.”

Someone please take me to Ireland…. oh me oh my!!
Thanks sooo much for sharing guys XOXO Lou
