A Fun Confetti + Pretty Barn Wedding

A Fun Confetti + Pretty Barn Wedding ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Anna and Richard were married in March at the beautiful Tewin Bury Farm Hotel, Hertfordshire. They wanted a Springtime barn wedding, which turned out to be oh so charming.

They incorporated some beautiful flowers, i love the daffodils and bluebells in Anna’s stunning bouquet, what a gorgeous combination. Anna looks beautiful in her Cymbeline dress and her incredible veil which her Aunt made for her. Later on she wears the prettiest flower halo in her hair too. I have to mention Richard’s look which is very dapper, with a chic yellow tie and sunflower buttonhole adorning his Next suit.

I love the laid back eclectic decor, but most of all the portraits of this stylish couple. The balloon and confetti shots in particular are so so lovely.

Thanks so much to the amazing Rebecca Wedding Photography for sharing her images with us today.

Names…. Anna and Richard

Wedding Date…. 23/3/12

The Proposal…. Goa! We were originally meant to go at the end of November 2010 but it was cancelled because of all the snow. We ended up re-booking it and going in the February. Little did I know he had asked my Dad in the November (how they kept it secret for that long I don’t know!) Rich proposed with my great nans ring one evening by the lake of the hotel. Funnily enough I really needed the loo and was keen to get back to the hotel, however Rich insisted on going for a walk! He wanted to sit on the bench and kept getting really frustrated with people walking past and looking at the lake! I thought he was acting very strangely and then he got down on one knee and nervously asked me to marry him! I can’t even remember what he said now, I just remember saying ‘oh my god!’ a lot once I realised what was happening!

The Vision for the day…. We knew we wanted to get married in a barn and at Spring time with all the people we loved around us.

The Planning process…. When I first got engaged I didn’t have a clue how I was going to plan a wedding, but as I started I realised I actually knew what I wanted! We booked the venue first then the photographer and everything else sort of fitted into place!

The Venue… Tewin Bury Farm Hotel – Tewin. We’d always loved Tewin Bury as we’d gone there for my Mum’s 50th and for lunch a few times. We never imagined that we’d be able to get married there! They were fantastic through the whole process and took so much of the hard work out of our hands.

The Dress + Accessories….. Dress – Cymbeline Emea/Dubai, Veil – I was a lucky girl and my wonderful Aunty made it for me!! I told her the sort of thing I wanted and she did the rest. Shoes – Ruby – Rainbow Club, Earrings – My Nan’s pearl earrings.

I thought I knew exactly what sort of dress I wanted (short Audrey Hepburn style) but ended up going for something completely different!  I didn’t really enjoy wedding dress shopping! I only went to two shops and that was enough for me. I just wanted someone to choose it for me! To be honest I didn’t ever fall in love with my dress or loved myself in it like people say you do, but I think I would have been like that with whatever I chose. On the day though, with the hair, make-up and veil, I really did feel like a bride!

Groom’s attire… Next Italia suit, Shoes – Next, Tie – eBay.

The Readings + Music…. My brother (James) and Richard’s sister (Parvati). We asked them to choose the readings for us. James read ‘An Irish Blessing’ adapted by Ralph Mctell and Parvati read ‘On Your Wedding Day’. I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D – Piano version. Signing the register; ‘Watch the Sun Come Up’ – Example.  Walking out; ‘Starry Eyed’ – Ellie Goulding.

Beautiful bridesmaids….. My gorgeous sister Sara (maid of honour) and my lovely friends Katie, Hayley and Emily. The dresses were from Planet (on sale!), ballet shoes from Topshop and the jewellery from Argos.

The Flowers… ‘The Flower Pot’ – Stevenage. Wow! The flowers were amazing. We saw Sue once and she just knew exactly what we wanted! Being half Welsh and us getting married in Spring, I chose narcissus (daffodils) for the bouquet with a mixture of lavender, bluebells, forget me not’s and yellow tulips. My side of the family had mini narcissus for their button holes and Richard’s side of the family wore sunflowers (his late Father’s favourite flower).

The Cake… Krispy crèmes, large French fancy, cherry bake wells and a mini fruit cake.

Your Photographer…. Rebecca wedding photography. Again, WOW! Rebecca was just incredible. When I found her online and saw her pictures I just knew she was what we wanted! Not only are her photos amazing, but she just made Richard and I (and all our guests) feel at ease. Before meeting her we really worried about our pictures and having to pose, but she just did her thing and took so many beautiful photos. We didn’t even notice she was taking photos most of the time!

The Details + Decor…. The Tythe Barn at Tewin Bury was so lovely we didn’t want to over decorate it! We used a bit of bunting inside and had mini windmills around the outside of the barn. Flower wise we just had a wreath at the end of the aisle and bunch of flowers on the end of every other row of chairs. We used photos of ourselves from over the years to hang and also framed our parent’s wedding day photographs (they loved the surprise on the day!) .

We had a lovely area in the barn which we set up for the children at the wedding. We had a ball pool, bubble machine and lots of arts and crafts to keep them busy ☺

I work in a nursery and my coleuge and the children made me the most amazing post box for our cards! Richard is really into horse racing so we named our tables after race horses that were special to us over the years. For favours we just used pick a mix sweets and for the children I made up some party bags.

The Honeymoon…. A lovely week in Devon in a cottage in the middle of nowhere!

Memorable moments… There are just so many I couldn’t name one! We just loved having everyone there that we loved and cared about…we couldn’t believe that they were all there for us! We felt so unbelievably lucky all day!!!

Advice for other couples… My only regret is that I spent so much time worrying on the day whether I was talking to people enough or had said hello to everyone! Just enjoy it….it goes sooooo fast!
