I am super excited today to be able to chat with one of Whimsical Wonderland Weddings newest sponsors, the ever lovely Hayley Ruth Photography.

Hayley is a wedding photographer based in Cambridgeshire and she captures the most stunning, timeless images, which i know WWW readers are just going to adore….

{w} Hi Hayley, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?

Introducing me! I’m Hayley and I love love love my job! But before we get onto that, I also love, spending time with my family and friends, good books, food, pretty things, of which there are many and CAKE! (Making and eating it :-)) Travel when I can get the time, walking my cheeky monkey pooch, aka Lily the bonkers boxer and finally weddings!

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?

What’s not to love about being able to share in such beautiful and happy occasions every week. But if I am pinned down to one thing, I love the emotional journey of the day, it’s never the same, each couple is different and it’s what makes each wedding special. Through my eyes it’s the little moments between them, their family and friends, the smiling glint in their eyes, the nervous lip chew and elation, all magic moments and I can’t get enough of them.

{w} How did you get into photography and into the wedding industry?

I always wanted to work in the industry and particularly photography but at College they said I needed to follow a more academic route and so begrudgingly I did. I’ve always been a creative at heart and so followed it with my hobbies and interests instead. Photographs have always fascinated me, that single moment captured forever. I have 7 generations of family photographs and I never tire of looking at them.

So fast forward 15 years and still not really loving my corporate life I was shooting more and more for friends of friends, friend’s and decided to follow my heart and quit the rat race. HayleyRuth Photography was born and I haven’t looked back

{w} What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

For me it’s all about the client. I like to listen to what they want from their wedding photography, any ideas they have for shots and work with them to create a relaxed photography experience. There are no bossy bits with me and I don’t turn up with a set idea of how we are going to capture their day, with the exception of any shots we have already discussed, everything else is as it unfolds so we can we be completely flexible. I want them to take away images they treasure and love, supported by a fabulous experience.

{w} What style is your work?

Simple, Natural and unobtrusive photography in a nutshell. No fuss or phaff. Simply beautiful photographs, with a timeless appeal. I like to think the only thing to date will be the hair styles and outfits, rather than funky effects and styling.

{w} Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?

Each client is unique so I offer bespoke pricing, for my clients, this ensures that they get to take away exactly what they want rather than a package full of things they don’t want just to get the coverage time or disc etc. Typically my clients spend between £1250 and £1650.

{w} Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their wedding photographer?

I know this is often said but it’s too true not to say it again. Meet with your photographer (or any supplier actually) look at lots of their work and with photographers complete weddings and albums, and only book them if you ‘click’ and they understand your vision for your day. Your Photographer will be around you for all of your wedding day in most instances and if you don’t like their jokes, perfume, or attitude it’s going to be a really long frustrating day for all involved and not something you want on your wedding day!
