A Curious Museum Engagement ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Afternoon WWWers :-) Let me share another love story with you… this time of Siobhan and Ben.

They decided to have their engagement shoot in an amazing museum, reflecting Ben’s Ecologist background. Don’t they look super duper gorgeous, i love Siobhan’s chic salmon dress and sweet blooms.

Thanks so much to the amazing Devlin Photos for sharing her work with us today…

Siobhan tells me all about the proposal; “Ben proposed on my birthday in August last year. We’d been together 10 years at that point. He packed a fabulous picnic- plenty of cheese for me (i’m a cheese fiend, he doesn’t like it!), together with some of his homemade bread and chutney, and some Sussex sparkling wine. We went for a walk along seven sisters and found a nice spot for our picnic. I must say initially I had a ‘this could be it!’ moment at this point, but as we gorged on our food and took in the views it went out if my mind again. Later we returned to Brighton, more sparkly and strawberries and then Ben took me out for dinner. I’d had such a fabulous day that I hadn’t even noticed Ben hadn’t given me a card or present which he normally does first thing in the morning. So after the main meal was cleared and I was rummaging around in my bag for something, Ben declared he needed to ask me something. Looking up I see a rather sheepish Ben holding out a beautiful ring (which he helped design), followed by the wonderful words ‘will you marry me?’ Needless to say I was in tears and didn’t realise I hadn’t actually said yes until Ben had to prompt me again. When I look back, I picture it as our Engagement day rather than just the proposal at the end, as it was a perfect day from start to finish, ending in the best birthday present ever!!”

“We’ve been together for 10 years. We met when we went to the same University, Anglia Polytechnic in Cambridge. We lived in the same halls of residence, were housemates for a few years and then moved down to Brighton together in 2002.

Ben is an Ecologist. He is passionate about nature. He likes natural colours, like blues and greens. Ben is from the Forest of Dean in Glostershire. I’m an Optometrist, I locum/freelance so I work in various Opticians, one of my favourite places to work is an Opticians in the lanes. I love the relaxed atmosphere of the lanes in Brighton and browsing the many elclectic shops. I like the colour pink. Also reds/purples. I’m Irish. I love visiting home-Ireland, or family coming to visit me here.

Together we enjoy going for walks in the country side, or down by the seafront. We like spending time with friends, cooking and baking for friends, bbqs on the beach in the summer.  We went on a 10 week travelling trip to Australia and New Zealand, spending much of this time in a campervan we discovered a love for travelling. This inspired our transport for the wedding-we will both have VW campers.”
