Afternoon :-) As a final post for the working week i have the loveliest of love stories.
Carli and Phil decided to have their engagement shoot at the backdrop of the Minster Lovell Ruins in Oxfordshire, put together with some amazing light and beautiful retro attire, they ended up with some incredible images.
I so love Phil’s words throughout the piece about himself and Carli it’s too sweet.
Thanks so much to the fabulous Jen Marino Photography for sharing her images with us today, here is what she had to say about the shoot;
“I met Carli way before I met Phil, Carli is actually my hair dresser and has been for about 5 years now! The first time we met was because she was coming to do my mums hair but she couldn’t help but notice my brillo pad of a hair doo haha! It was like straw, and was starting to fall out as I had bleached it 6 times in one day!! I know I am crazy! Anyway, she fixed my poor hair and stayed for about 6 hours trying to make it come alive again, she was amazing! I couldn’t believe how brilliant she was, from then on I wanted her to my hair dresser forever! From then on we have stayed friends and I am a loyal customer to her :)
I knew she started seeing someone for a while but I had never met him, suddenly I received a text from Carli saying had Phil proposed! This was while she was on holiday! I was all smiley and s happy for her! I then told my mum she was really pleased for her too! The first time I met Phil was when we went to visit their venue for when they get married as I am the photographer for the big day too! Yay! He seemed really lovely and funny, I could see why them too got on! They are both as mad as each other ! haha
When I photographed their engagement shoot, I could see Phil was dreading it, but then surprisingly he was the one that was telling us what to do and where to go and what photos to take! haha he got so into it it was great! From then on we’ve become mates too! Great couple! Great people! I really can’t wait to photograph their big day and I am so happy that they want me to be their photographer :)”

Phil tells me; “Well, we met years ago at bug jam- a vw event at santapod & knew each other as friends for years, we basically saw each other through friends or at vw meetings over the years.
Then we both became friends facebook after not seeing each other for a couple of years and after a while we ended up chilling together.
After a short while it became obvious to me that I’d found my soul mate and love – real love, not the love that I thought I’d had for any other.”

“After dating for some months I knew she was my life and I wanted her to be in my life for good. I thought it was too soon to talk of marriage so on Xmas day I tied a key to my flat to her families Xmas tree.
After all the presents had been opened on Xmas morning her mum said there’s something still left for carli – she looked under the tree and couldn’t find anything.
It took a while but then she spotted it – a key with a tag attached to it with the words from part of the song of Maria carets Xmas song – all I want for Xmas…. Is you!!
She was over the moon and so was I. She moved in in the january and shortly after I knew for sure that I wanted to marry her. I waited a while thinking how to propose and took a while to plan it to make it something we’d remember forever. First I asked her parents for their permission. Which they gave with love. I went to london with my best mate looking for rings. I decided that i wanted something unique – just like carli is!”

“I then booked a holiday in the July, it was in italy . A beautiful country for a beautiful occasion. We stayed in Rome and I had done all my homework on where to go and how to do it. I took her for an evening stroll at janiculum hill where you could see the entire skyline of Rome – It was lush. I sat her down at a bench with the lovely view. Pulled out a bottle if wine from my rucksack and poured us both a glass. As we sat and chatted I suddenly looked into her eyes an telling her how beautiful, wonderful and incredible she is and got down on one knee- she looked at me confused (probably as to why I’d want to get my knee dirty in my favourite shorts [:-)] ). I asked her and she said yes….. And cried…. A lot! We then went on to have a wonderful holiday. After a whe we started to plan our marriage – carli more than me to be fair, dresses and the like [:-)] .”

“Luckily we decided to book Jen as our photographer. She was fantastic and has made us feel special. We know we are going to be pleased with the results she is going to produce. Shortly after Jen suggested we do an engagement shoot. We were really nervous and to be fair I really didn’t fancy it – I know… Even with my good looks [:-)] . Jen took us to beautiful ruins and took some absolutely fantastic pictures that we will cherish for ever – we felt they really encompassed us as a couple.
Wedding plans are still on going- they will be until the happy day I’m sure. The day is going to be magnificent – we will be surrounded by great friends and fantastic family – all the ingredients to a wonderful happy long life… We are so looking forward to the next time we are photographed as the engagement shoot gave us some truly magnificent photos along with some great memories to go with them. Carli is my world and I think the photos we have show this in all it’s glory! It is going to be a vintage themed shoot as Carli loves all of that stuff!”

Oh my word, aren’t they adorable? And how sweet are Phil’s words about his fiance… i feel all mushy and happy now. What a gorgeous story :-) I cannot wait to see your wedding guys! Have a great weekend lovelies XOXO Lou
