Today i am thrilled to be getting to know the lovely and uber talented Pete Cranston Photography. I so love Pete’s dreamy yet classic, emotional images and think you will too.

{w} Hi Pete, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?

I’m Pete, I’m originally from Belfast but after many homes in many places I now live in Bristol. I’m a husband to Jo and a dad to two boys.

I’m a wedding photographer, which makes me very happy.

{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?

I love getting to meet so many wonderful people that want me to be there on their wedding day. I feel honoured to be the one to craft a visual record for them.

There’s nothing I dislike about the job. There are things I dislike about the industry. I think there are too many people out there with a ‘hit and hope’ approach, and when it comes to someone’s wedding day that just isn’t on. I truly believe that everyone should be able to have the very best record of his or her day, no matter what the budget.

{w} How did you get into photography and into the wedding industry?

I wasn’t brought up with a camera in my hand, but I’ve always been creative. I spent a long time as a well respected, fine dining chef, and although I loved what I did. I never felt it was satisfying my visually creative side. I began making short films and this eventually lead in to photography. I was working in London doing music and editorial work before finding my niche with portraiture. Wedding photography was the natural progression for my love of big events and small details.

{w} What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

I give my clients something that is totally unique. Capturing the moments of someone’s wedding day is a really big deal, and not one I take lightly. I always try to provide my clients with a beautiful account of the day, but also one that could not have been done by anyone else.

I want my clients to cry (with joy!) when they see the work I’ve produced for them. I want them to see how beautiful they are and what an incredible day they had.

{w} What style is your work?

I don’t do cheesy shots or gimmicky retouching. I do beautiful, bespoke wedding photography for those wanting something more individual.

{w} Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?

Currently I provide two packages; a CD only package and a CD and book package. Both packages are for a pre-wedding shoot and a full days coverage. I don’t charge for increments of time, you get me from the preparations right till the end of the night. I work to your schedule.

{w} Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their wedding photographer?

Find someone you can get along with, who you can picture at your wedding. Someone with whom you’d feel confident to both orchestrate big, striking group shots and also to blend in unobtrusively and capture the smallest unique details.
