Afternoon lovelies :-) I wasn’t going to post a wedding today as I posted my little DIY project this morning, but alas I couldn’t wait any longer to share Greg and Samantha’s gorgeous day.
They chose to have their wedding in a location special to them, and chose the beautiful seaside town of Rye, with their ceremony held in the town hall and their reception at The George in Rye. I am in love with Samantha’s lace Justin Alexander gown, and her simple bun hair do. The details were kept simple, with gorgeous flowers and navy blue bridesmaid dresses, this is one super chic wedding.
Thanks so much to the fabulous Devlin Photos for sharing her amazing images with us today, here is what she had to say about the day;
“The George in Rye is a charming venue and Samantha and Greg chose to celebrate their wedding there after a lovely ceremony in the Town Hall. We were escorted down the hill by the Town Crier who seems to be one of the most job satisfied people ever. This couple love their music so we popped into this fabulous record store where I asked them to pick out an album for each other. Greg got Samantha Fox (which he admitted he used to love) and Sam got Rod Stewart. Thanks to Kat Hill.”
NAMES… Greg and Samantha
WEDDING DATE… 5 November 2012 – Guy Faulks!
THE PROPOSAL… After 13 years (our lucky number!) Greg proposed on a deserted beach in New Zealand. Being truly amazing! he made the ring out of seaweed and shell. He proposed on one knee the old fashioned way and I said YES! (through floods of tears!)
THE VISION… Having been together for such a long time, we wanted to get married somewhere that meant something to us. Throughout the years we would go to Camber Sands and would always stop off in Rye for some fish and chips. Together with our love of the seaside and antiques it seemed the perfect place to say “I do”.
THE VENUE… The Townhall, Rye (service) and The George (breakfast and reception)
THE DRESS + ACCESSORIES… The dress was traditionally lace by Justin Alexander, which my Mum lovingly altered for me.
GROOM’S ATTIRE… Brought a handsome Moss Bros tailored blue suit, he has said he will wear it to every wedding going forward and even his funeral to make sure he gets his money worth!
THE READINGS + MUSIC… We asked Greg’s godfather who encourages our love of antiques, my twin sister Penny, who got me into my dress thanks to her fitness regime! and a very dear friend Joel, who wrote a wonderful reading which was read in only a way Joel could do. I walked down the isle to “At last” by Etta James – seemed appropriate after 13 years together! It now always brings me back to walking down the aisle looking at Greg, whenever I hear it.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS… Chief Bridesmaid, Hannah my best friend who I have known since we started secondary school and who has always got my back! Penny, twin sister who keeps me in shape, Katrina (younger sister) who had just had Chloe (my niece), Emma who lived with Greg and I for three years and makes a great cup of tea and finally Libby who I have known since I was 11 and who kindly did my makeup on the day (Libs is a makeup artist).
My two brothers Peter and Tim Flint gave me away which meant the world to me.
THE FLOWERS… I absolutely love flowers and so one Sunday I went to Columbia Road and hunted for some of my favourites. My Mum being lovely arranged them in the watering cans for the tables on the day and all bouquets were arranged by a local florist in Hawkhurst.
THE CAKE… and iced ginger biscuits were absolutely stunning, they were made by Ketta Miles of Leky’s Homemade gingerbread and traditional cakes, who we would highly recommend. The cake was a mixture of sponge and fruit both were equally as delicious. We have kept the top stand in a tin for any future pitter patter of feet, christenings!
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER… Lisa Devlin captured the day beautifully, we will cherish the captured memories for ever. The photos speak for themselves such a wide variety with all the emotion you could ask for. We can also highly recommend the photo booth which kept everyone entertained! – we have some hilariously brilliant Polaroid’s!
THE DETAILS + DÉCOR… Favours were pencils to represent Greg as an artist and seeds for my love of the garden. We also cut up an old book and made lots of tiny heart shapes which were scattered on the tables as confetti.
THE HONEYMOON… We asked for trail finders gift vouchers (as we have plates and cups already!) and spoilt ourselves with a 13 (our lucky number!) day break to Mauritius, it was utterly relaxing, exactly what the doctor ordered after all of the build up and organisation.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS... Joshua Day (our young nephew) being the ring bearer, he did a superb job and dancing with our family (Mum’s especially!) and friends to “your firework” by Katy Perry (Guy Faulks!) will always bring a smile to my face, its not often everyone is together in one beautiful ballroom.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES… Enjoy every minute but take a couple of moments in a corner of a room together to take it all in, its like a dream come true.
CREDIT WHERE CREDIT’S DUE…
