Morning, i firstly apologise for the reduced blogging schedule I now have a chest infection and feeling a bit sorry for myself hehe!! Anyway i thought it was time to introduce you to another new member of the Whimsical Wonderland Weddings sponsor family. Today i introduce you to the brilliant Kerri, designer behind Starstruck Designs who creates beautiful bridal tiaras, bridal jewellery and accessories handmade in the UK…..
;
{w} Hi Kerrie, could you firstly tell {www} readers a little bit about you?
;
Hello! Well, I’m Kerri, I live with my husband, 2 children and 2 cats. I am a self confessed magpie, and love sparkle. I have a bit of a history of adding diamante to anything I can, from clothes, to shoes, artwork on the walls of my living room – even some of my daughter’s cuddly toys have been sparklified!
;

;

;
{w} What do you love/dislike about your job?
;
I love… creating new designs, whether they have come from my own concepts, or from ideas presented by clients. Especially anything that is a little bit out of the ordinary (or completely off the scale!). I think that the best creative work comes from being challenged to produce something that is unexpected!
I dislike… paperwork, admin, accounts, being asked to copy designs that other people have worked hard to create, having only 24 hours in a day – there is simply never enough time!
;

;
{w} How did you get into the wedding industry?
;
I’ve always been very creative and had been asked to design some pieces for friends’ weddings. This was 10 years ago when a lot of businesses still weren’t embracing the internet, so online competition was quite minimal. A friend of mine suggested that I set up a website and get some photos of my work online to see if there would be any interest. Within 5 months I had expanded from 6 tiaras to over 100 pieces, and had a 4 month waiting list of orders! I still have a copy of the first cheque I ever received, framed on the wall of my office!

;
{w} What do you aim to achieve for your clients?
;
I really believe that each person I work with should be treated as an individual. No two weddings are the same, and that must be reflected in the way I work with clients. Ultimately, I want each of my brides to be wearing accessories that they have enjoyed choosing, and that they will want to wear again. I always aim to surpass the expectations of my clients if I can!

{w} What style is your work?
;
In a nutshell, we make bridal tiaras and jewellery. But for tiaras, read: Tiaras, headbands, side tiaras, hair pins and grips, hair combs, hair vines…(anything sparkly that you can put in your hair). For jewellery, I guess it’s the standard necklaces, bracelets, earrings – although we have been commissioned to make barefoot sandals and crystal flesh tunnels before!
;

;
{w} Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?
;
That’s a little bit of a “how long’s a piece of string” question! Our prices start from £3 per hairpin. Earrings are around the £20-£30 mark, and the rest of our jewellery prices are in line with this. Tiaras, side tiaras and headbands range from £28 – £160. We don’t charge an additional fee for a bespoke design, and prices for these will depend on the materials involved and the complexity of the design.

{w} Do you have any tips for couples in selecting wedding suppliers?
;
I think that if you are looking for a bespoke design, it is crucial that you look at lots of photos of a suppliers’ work, and choose someone who’s style you like. Send them an email, or give them a call and make sure that you are happy with their attitude and suggestions. If you aren’t happy then don’t feel that you are under any obligation to proceed with an order. And if they make you feel pressurised to order – run in the opposite direction!
