I so love this morning’s simple yet oh so chic wedding.
Amanda and James wanted a “simple, un-fussy, fun and relaxed” kind of day. Amanda looks amazing in her vintage wedding dress, and i so love her gorgeous button bouquet, James looks very dapper too.
Their whole day cost them just £3000, proof you don’t need to spend a fortune to have a beautiful day. This is the kind of wedding that sings to my heart, it’s all about the love.
Thanks so much to the brilliant Peachey Photography for letting me share her stunning images with you today….
Names…. Amanda and James
Wedding Date…. 10 Nov 2011
The Proposal…. 14 July 2011 @ Hurts concert, Somerset House, London. It was a warm summers evening, beautiful venue, great music and atmosphere. The concert was coming to an end and red confetti was gently falling from the sky – it was everywhere you looked! It was the perfect setting for an impromptu proposal. We had been together for only 2 months!
The Vision for the day…. Simple, un-fussy, fun and relaxed.
The Planning process…. Relaxed and laid back combined with some very last minute details!
Budget…. We tried to keep costs as lean as possible, we spent around £3000 plus help from family.
The Venue… We wanted a big party to celebrate rather than a traditional day with sit down meal. The first thing we arranged was our party at a friend’s lovely 16th century pub – The Hay Waggon in Hartfield, East Sussex. As we were impatient and gave ourselves little time to plan everything we weren’t able to book a ceremony locally. We changed our plans to have our ceremony on Thurs 10th Nov at Old Marylebone Town Hall, London followed by celebratory drinks at a friend’s pub – The Thornbury Castle just a short walk away. We then had our big party in Hartfield the following night.
The Dress + Accessories….. A 1950’s couture dress by Claudia Young, fur shrug from Karen Millen and shoes from LK Bennett.
Finding the dress…. This was luckily very easy! I went to Elizabeth Avey Vintage Wedding Dresses with my mum. All I knew was I wanted a mid length 50’s style dress. It was the 3rd I tried mine on and it fitted like a glove, we all agreed it was ‘the one’! It’s very much my style simple and beautiful.
Groom’s attire… Black tux, black diamante tie.
The Flowers… My gorgeous button bouquet and James’ button hole was custom created by my old school friend Emma at Beau Buttons. As we originally wanted to get married in Las Vegas the bouquet included Las Vegas themed buttons.
The Cake… We opted for no cake but had plenty of champagne for everyone!
Your Photographer…. I was very sure about getting a great photographer. I found Peachey Photography from Rock n Roll Bride, her style was exactly what I was looking for – natural and uncontrived. Katharine is brilliant, gives a truly personal service, a lovely person and has given us the most wonderful photos of our incredible day.
The Honeymoon…. Las Vegas, naturally!
Memorable moments… The whole day was perfect, I can’t successfully put into words just how wonderful it was – I’d love to do it all over again! A few moments… The hairdresser turning up late at the hotel! Us getting to the registry office 20 mins late! The feeling of excitement/ anticipation/ nerves (lots of!) once we stepped out of the hotel together on our way to the registry office.
Advice for other couples… This is your big day, be self indulgent. Think of yourselves and what makes you happy.
