I think it’s high time we injected a little glamour onto these very pages :-)
Chris and Laura were married in October in Edinburgh. They wanted a modern, black and white wedding… which turned out to be a very glamorous affair indeed.
They are just the most gorgeous of couples, and they added to many beautiful, personal touches to their day. And the Jimmy Choo’s!!!!
Thanks so much to the amazing Zoe Campbell Photography for sharing her images today, here is what she had to say about the day;
“Chris and Laura were married at Norton House Hotel in Edinburgh on the 3rd of October. It was a predictably Scottish wet and windy day but it certainly dampen the wedding spirit. I knew Laura would look stunning on her wedding day and she didn’t disappoint, she put a lot of thought and effort into the wedding day preparations and it showed, everything came together beautifully for her. There was lovely little touches, my favourite being their dogs silhouettes being incorporated into the stationery, it wasn’t till you looked hard that you noticed, almost like a secret for those in the know, understated and very sweet. They are such warm, loving people it was truly an honour to be a part of their wedding day.If possible I would like to also thank Kristin Mitchell of Struve Photography for assisting me on the day.”
Names…. Laura and Chris
Wedding Date…. 03/10/2011
The Proposal…. at home on 10/10/10, he had just returned from a two week work trip and was giving me some gifts, after I had got them he said I have one more for you and produced a ring.
The Vision for the day…. Modern, simple, with a little bit of quirk to it (it started out with a vintage feel but we wanted to dress it up a bit)
The Planning process…. seemingly never-ending, we got a venue and planned around it, the colour scheme came from the carpets in the venue being quite unusual and our desire not to clash with them. Everything else came about organically once we had the venue and colours decided.
The Venue… Norton House Hotel, Ingliston, Edinburgh for both ceremony and reception
The Dress + Accessories….. Dress: Victoria Jane, Summer, Shoes: Jimmy Choo, Ailsa, Earrings: Glitzy secrets, Headpiece: from Melle Cloche in Glasgow (the name of the designer escapes me), Bridesmaid dresses: Impressions Bridal from Net Bride.
Finding the dress… Tedious, I bought a dress in Dec last year (not the one I wore on the day) then lost 2 stone and decided I wanted a prettier one, I was in a bridal shop looking for underwear and came across my one, it truly was love at first sight! I ordered it in March and it arrived 2 weeks before the wedding, after much panic!
Groom’s attire… Suit: Marks and Spencer, Tie: Online from Amazon, all of the groomsmen wore the same tie, Shoes: Clarks, Cufflinks: Transformers
The Readings + Music…. Walking down the Aisle: Marry Me by Train, Signing the register: Piano version of make you feel my love by Adele & Moon River, Walking out of the ceremony: I gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas, We didn’t have any readings.
Beautiful bridesmaids….. Ami (MOH), Leigh and Amanda
The Flowers… By Appleblossoms florist in Stewarton, Ayrshire
The Cake… Cupcakes from Waitrose and decorated by my lovely MOH and I and I baked the top tier.
Your Photographer…. The lovely Zoe Campbell
The Details + Decor…. Black and white theme, we hired black napkins, white chair covers and black sashes to tie everything together. The favours were personalised love heart packets, sugared almonds and for the evening guests there were handmade cake pops. All of our stationary from the invites to the tags for the favours were bespoke, Chris has a fabulous lady who designed stuff for his work, she came up with our emblem and incorporated it into everything on the day.
The Honeymoon…. Chicago for 6 days then to NYC for 5
Memorable moments… Getting my heel caught in the pavement, only being able to wear my shoes until after the ceremony and replacing them with spa slippers, the speeches, walking up the aisle to see Ami (who never cries) crying so hard her leg was shaking. The first dance.
Advice for other couples… Nobody cares about your wedding as much as you do. If you can’t afford it, don’t worry the simpler things are the more they look like they cost! Don’t believe the hype, at the end of the day its just another day, a beautiful day, but another day all the same.

Congratulations, Zoe! The wedding was absolutely fantastic, and the photos here really do justice to how wonderful a day it was. I especially loved the bespoke stationery dog designs - apparently Chris and Laura have two dogs of their own, so this was their way of including them in the day (what a lovely thing to do!).
