After yesterday’s trip to Scotland, i thought today we would head to beautiful Ireland :-)
Naz and Lillian and a stunning, multicultural day with some seriously gorgeous pink touches. Don’t forget to watch the stunning super 8 film at the bottom too.
Thanks so much to the lovely Lisa O’Dwyer Photography for submitting her work via Two Bright Lights to me, here is what she had to say about the day;
“Naz and Lilian met in Ireland where they are living now. She is from Turkey and he is from France. They got married at the historic Shelbourne Hotel. Friends and family from Turkey, America, and France attended the elegant wedding in Dublin. Naz added lots of personal touches including her mother’s antique French lace veil which she wore to her wedding 35 years ago. Her mother bought beautiful antique discs from an antique shop in Ankara. These depict the symbol of the Ottoman Sultan and tulip. They were laid on the table with the cupcakes that came from a Dublin patisserie that is Lilian’s favourite, The Queen of Tarts. The customised cake-topper was ordered by a popular confectioner in Turkey, Mutlu Dukkan. This, along with the little cookie jar favours by Mutlu Dukkan, were brought to Dublin by Naz’s friends and family. The little cookies had the initials L and N for the couple’s names. The jars had the Turkish “evil eye” on the ribbons, and the room was decorated with these good luck symbols. Also, the brides flower bouquet by floral designer Appassionata, had tinsel streamers attached to it. Naz told me that these were a Turkish custom and that the single ladies would tear one off for good luck :) Naz’s mom Zehra made the little flower and lace pins worn by the parents and the wrist corsages worn by the cousins. She also made the flower and lace ribbon decorations for the chairs. The Luna Novias French couture dress was bought in Turkey at Beyaz Butik. The bride wore white high-top bridal sneakers from The Lovely Bride which were brought over from the States by Naz’s cousin Deniz. The couple went to get photographs taken at St Stephen’s Green across from the Shelbourne as the 29th of September was the warmest day of the year in Ireland (80F!!!!)! You will see people lying on the grass in the park enjoying the sunshine as the couple walks through the Green.”
Let’s take a walk from best day productions on Vimeo. Best Day Productions.
Names…. Naz and Lilian
Wedding Date…. 29.09.2011
The Proposal…. No diamond ring. Very casual but magical. It was a random day, nothing special. I wouldn’t want to be proposed in a fancy restaurant etc. anyway. I was head over heals in our apartment.
The Vision for the day…. It was as how I imagined to be since I was a little kid. Medium sized and just full of people that I love.
The Planning process…. I did all the planning (finding the vendors etc.) My mom Zehra Koseoglu helped out with all the little details (seat ribbons, table decorations, cupcake stand decoration, corsages/pins for both the grooms’ and brides’ parents and ) and corsages for the cousins)
The Venue… The Shelbourne Hotel
The Dress + Accessories….. LUNA NOVIAS (bought from Beyaz Butik Store in Ankara, Turkey), Wedding Rings from Tiffany&Co, Shoes from thelovelybride.com, Diamond rings (from my mother), Diamond necklace (my parents’ graduation present), Bracelet- Swarowski, The French Lace- my mother’s (the one she wore on her wedding 31 years ago)
Finding the dress…. I only searched the dress stores in Ankara, Turkey. I have been to Husniye Moda Evi, Vakko Wedding, MOE by Beyaz Butik and then found the right dress at Beyaz Butik (White Boutique) shop. My parents and my best friend Orkun Genc was with me all the time.
Groom’s attire… Rented from Aston (Temple Bar, Dublin)
The Readings + Music…. We didn’t have any readings or vows. However, we have the unity candle ceremony. The music was provided by a string trio called Astral.
Beautiful bridesmaids….. I didn’t have any bridesmaids. Instead I asked two bestfriends of mine to stand right next to me during the ceremony as my two witnesses.
The Flowers… Appassionata (www.appassionata.ie) “Kasia helped me from the beginning till the end.
The Cake… Cupcaked from Queen of Tarts, Dublin, Ireland
The Details + Decor…. Cake topper and the wedding sweets are from Mutlu Dukkan (www.mutludukkan.com), Istanbul, Turkey. They are made by Mrs. Zeynep Yumlu.
The Honeymoon…. No time for honeymoon. Our Christmas holiday in Turkey and France will be our honeymoon. Besides, we will have a life time to travel together, aren’t we? :)
Memorable moments… Bride’s Father’s speech in 3 languages (English, Turkish and French). People burst in tears. It was lovely and everyone was amazed.
Advice for other couples… Plan well (at least for 3 months) and plan with a team. Being alone in the planning process is very tough. Especially if the planner is the bride herself
Additionally, always remember that you love your groom (and he loves you), it’s just the wedding that stresses you too much! :)
