You can just feel from these images a real relaxed party vibe to {www} readers Caro and Mark’s back garden wedding. The food and drink flowing, laughter and smiles. All the details and eclectic décor that was lovingly crafted.… and how gorgeous are Caro’s blooms she clutches to tenderly? I wish i was there!! ;-)
Thanks again to David Nash Photography for sharing his images today:
Your Photographer….
David Nash! We cannot thank him enough for the most amazing images he took on the day! I would easily spend all my time staring at the pictures now, because he captured the most beautiful moments! I had simply visited his web site and wanted someone local. I really liked the fact that he was able to catch all the little and very special moments, like my daughter catching some dust in mid-air, Mark doing his tie in front of the mirror and the moment I came downstairs to surprise my family and friends. I never really saw him on the day; he was so discreet and worked so quickly. Amazing moments, I will never forget…
The Details + Décor….
It is just great, almost two months down the line, to find all around the house some left over souvenirs, the bright coloured tissue paper we made flowers with, the colourful beads for the hearts we hung on the trees, a few Bonne Maman pots we decorated with ribbons, lace and buttons, a couple of lavender scented candles in china tea cups (we made 40 with Stu and Steph for the wedding favours!), the china soup terrines filled with herbs (mint, thyme, rosemary) that we used as table decorations, all collected from local charity shops, the luggage labels stamped with butterflies… Oh yes, there were lots of butterflies!!!! It was, in the end a mixture of vintage meets DIY, an English tea-party with French bric-à-brac on a hot summer’s day in the garden. A magical but rather eclectic combination!
The Flowers…
For the amazing flower arrangements, my bouquet, my daughter’s and all the buttonholes, I will never thank enough my lovely friend Steph. What a talent! Miss Pickering gave us the best inspirational ideas but Steph’s fingers and calm did all the rest! She is a fairy! And she did the most beautiful compositions on a tiny budget with flowers from our local garden centre and Tesco! It was all a mixture of beautiful fuchsia, orange roses and kangouroo claws, tiny eden roses, hot pink peonies, lavender, mint, rosemary, purple sweet peas and purple alliums! Fireworks!
The Cake…
Being French, it had to be a “pièce montée” (or Croque-en-Bouche), like the wedding cakes in my childhood. A mountain of choux filled with the most amazing filling, and a lot of lovely caramel on a bed of nougatine, with the little plastic bride and groom at the top. Devine! I found locally a real French patisserie chef who did a fantastic job. The best bit was the little box filled with tasters that Monsieur Coignard delivered himself with the cake. We had a few choux with a glass of champagne before leaving our house for the ceremony. The best breakfast ever! Merci Monsieur Coignard!
Advice for other couples…
Well, have fun, simply have fun. I will remember my wedding day as the most fun day of my life. It was a bit of hard work to get there, but, what fun we had in the end!
Memorable moments…
So many… impossible to choose one. I loved the moments we had with our friends, during the preparations and after the wedding. Mark’s emotion and his incredibly shiny eyes at the registry… I will never forget. At the end of the wedding day, we all sat down around one table, with a class of red and some St-Nectaire cheese brought from my native Auvergne by my brother, a very special moment indeed. But really, when it was time to say goodbye, my childhood friend Cécile’s revelation that her husband Laurent had worn the wrong trousers on the wedding day and that in fact he had been wearing his wife’s trousers, still makes me laugh hysterically!
The Honeymoon….
It had to be Sicily! Bellissimo paese! Simply amazing!
Thanks so much to Caro and Mark for sharing their beautiful wedding day with us.… how much fun are this couple? I am still giggling over the memorable moments heheeeee xoxo
