Hello lovelies…. hope you are having an amazing weekend. Now i know it’s a bank holiday BUT i have 79 draft posts to feature on this little wedding blog, so i just cannot help myself but keep bringing you wedding pretty. And with the holiday vibe, i thought i’d bring some sunshine in the form of a destination wedding.

This post comes with a health warning: if you are considering a destination wedding, this will most certainly convince you to go for it. I don’t think i have ever seen more stunning images from a destination wedding than i have from today’s real wedding feature. The views of Santorini are incredible, this must be the most beautiful place to get married in the world.

Bride Tracy looks stunning, i particularly love her birdcage veil… such a great idea for the warm climate too.

Enough from me, i shall let the images do the talking! Thanks so very much to the amazing Sheffield based wedding photographer, S6 Photography for sharing his images today, here is what he had to say about the day;

“I love to travel for weddings, I tend to do a few destination weddings every year and Santorini is the first up this year. Most people don’t seem to know where it is, well I can tell you its in Greece! Paul from Roar Photography brought me out shoot his wedding at Suites of The Gods. Such an awesome location, such an awesome wedding. If you’re reading this, and liking this, and plan on getting married out in Greece or anywhere, then get in touch, I’d love to come….

The Proposal….

We met on a snow boarding trip to Val d’Isere and 12 months later Paul proposed to me at the top of the mountain in a small resort called Chamrousse in the French Alps, it was beautiful and I was almost speechless! After checking that he was serious, he produced a beautiful ring that he had designed himself so I knew he wasn’t joking, I said yes, cried and flew down the mountain on my snowboard to tell the world!

The Vision for the day….

We really wanted a small relaxed wedding that our guests would enjoy and for everyone to enjoy the stunning views and hot weather.

The Planning process….

Relatively straight forward with most plans being finalised when we arrived on the island. The hotel wedding planner was fantastic and couldn’t do enough to help and put as at ease about the big day. Nothing was too much trouble. That isn’t to say the planning went without a hitch though! After spending several weeks sorting out our documents, translations, authentication etc the documents got lost in the post and until 12 hours before we flew we thought the wedding in Greece might not be legal! We were actually at the airport when we got a message to say our documents had arrived and had been agreed by the mayor, I cant tell you the relief!

The Dress + Accessories…..

My dress was by Maggie Sottero, I just loved the one shoulder strap with flowers and the fit was perfect! My shoes were by Dune and my aim was to add some sparkle with my shoes and my diamante cuff bracelet, I bought diamante earrings but didn’t need them as Paul surprised me with a beautiful pair of diamond earrings that he’d had made to match my engagement ring.

I didn’t want a traditional Veil but I did want something with a vintage feel and so went for a birdcage style bridal fascinator, also from Brides and Gowns.

I was determined I would get the dress I love and not be talked into a ‘destination’ dress because I was getting married abroad, I always wanted a big dress! I thought I would never find it but one gloomy, rainy afternoon in Derby I went to Brides and Gowns and put on THE dress, it fit perfectly and knew it would suit the venue too with a Grecian feel to the one shoulder design. I never believed people when they said ‘you will know when you find the right dress’ because I love dresses and so I liked most of the ones I tried on but its true I knew it was the right dress when I put it on.

Groom’s attire…

Jasper Conran metallic grey3 piece suit, and he looked very handsome in it! It didn’t take Paul long to pick his suit at all and the one he picked was perfect and it was a very light mohair so not too hot.

The Venue…

We fell in love with Santorini and knew it was the place for us to marry as soon as we saw the view! Santorini is a small and beautiful Greek island in the south Cyclades and provided us with the perfect venue and wasn’t too far for our guests to travel. Greece has a special place in my heart as I worked there for a few years and was the first beach holiday me and Paul went on together. Getting married there felt right for me and Paul. Suites of the Gods won me over with its wine cave spa, four poster beds and large stone bath tubs in the bedrooms all with stunning views over the caldera. I knew the view would take everyones breath away and make the perfect backdrop to our wedding.

Beautiful bridesmaids…..

Annie was my beautiful bridesmaid and Mia was the gorgeous flower girl they both looked fantastic and did a great job. I saw Annies dress in the window of The House of Capulet in Derby and knew instantly it was right, with the one shoulder strap it complemented my dress perfectly and I knew it was style that Annie would love too. Mia’s dress was from Debenhams and when she was running up and down in the changing rooms and didn’t want to take it off I knew it was the right one for her, a real little princess.

The Readings + Music….

We had traditional Greek musicians for the ceremony which was lovely, they met me outside my room and walked with me to the ceremony. For the rest of the wedding we put together playlists on our ipod which worked really well, we made our entrance to Andy Williams, can’t take my eyes off you with our guests singing and clapping, an unforgettable moment! Our first dance was to Paul Weller, You do something to me.
