Oh just you wait until you see this couple’s amazing wedding portraits…. they are to die for. You most definitely cannot create such incredible scenery yourself, you cannot beat nature at it’s most beautiful…. WOW.
I love the details and decor in this wedding. Firstly there are peonies…. oh heavenly, teamed with the seriously stylish baby’s breath it gives a gorgeous spin on the florals today. The gorgeous stationery really sets the table off as does the tartan. The cake is beautifully rustic and those DIY cake toppers are adorable.
Thanks so much again to Candysnaps Photography for sharing her images… enjoy:
The Flowers…
Pink peonies for the bride and white carnations for the bridemaids. The reception was a mix of pink and white peonies and baby’s breath.
The Details + Decor….
Our wedding invitations had two “love birds” on it and we kind of tried to incorporate that into the details with the love bird cake toppers and whimsical bird place cards. The room that the reception was held in had bright red walls so I wanted the décor to be understated enough that it did not compete with the walls. I LOVED that we found tartan table runners that matched Chris’s kilt, most people probably didn’t even notice, but I loved that touch! I also loved our guest book, I had a picture book put together of all the pictures from Chris and I dating and left blank pages for people to sign, I think that is something that we will love looking back at over the years.
Your Photographer….
Caroline Weiss of Candy Snaps Photographer, I can’t say enough good things about her. I knew I wanted something out of the ordinary and Caroline went over and above anything I could have ever imagined! She was such a joy to work with and made the day such a breeze!
The Cake…
The most delicious cake was provided by the Glenfinnan House Hotel’s amazing chef, Duncan, and was a white cake with strawberries and cream filling and buttercream icing. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. The topper was handmade by my mother and was two birds complete with a fascinator for the bride and tartan tammy for the groom!
Memorable moments…
-“the first look” I will remember how excited and in-love Chris looked as he watched me walk down the aisle for the rest of my life…that was honestly the best part of the day!
-Chris’s speech-it was so special and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house…I’m sure that Caroline captured a few pictures of me “ugly crying”!
-my Grandmother trying to lift Chris’s kilt up…yeah, that happened.
-The dancing!!! We had a traditional Scottish Ceilidh Band and it was such a hit! The Americans LOVED doing all of the traditional dancing, the dance floor was packed for every song! SO much better than a DJ!
Advice for other couples…
Spend a good amount of time thinking about how to make your wedding unique…from the food (yes, we served haggis) , to the ceremony, to the reception entertainment…we’ve all been to weddings and I think it is nice when couples do things that are out of the ordinary.
-invest in good vendors…yes, the wedding planner, photographer and band were a little more than the average, but it was SO worth it…the memories and pictures will last forever and you want the BEST people working with you to make your special day the most special it can be!
The Honeymoon….
We spent our honeymoon parked on a beach in Croatia! It was the perfect way to end the most wonderful week of my life!
Thanks so much to Catherine and Chris for sharing their stunning wedding. I am sure you will join me in wishing them a very happy marriage indeed. What a beautiful location for a wedding, and thanks again to Caroline for her amazing images today xoxo
