Wohooo it’s here {www} is ONE!! Wow ~ i don’t even know where the time has gone ;-)
So to celebrate and mark the occassion i decided to create this shoot you see here. I wanted to do something ‘unique’ which is really tricky in this industry, so i decided to do an inspiration shoot. There are a few things which make this shoot slightly different from the normal, blog worthy shoots.
a) I made everything you see here, mostly from scratch. No other wedding vendors were involved, it is completely DIY.
b) G and I took all the images ourselves…. so they may not be of professional standard, but i wanted to keep things quite low key.
c) I tried to stay low in budget, with the whole project coming to under £100…. with surplus supplies left over.
I wanted to do this to show you gorgeous couples, that you don’t need mega bucks to create your dream wedding. Everything here is fully achievable, and i don’t have a huge crafty talent. If you are willing to put in the time and effort and rope your family members in, you can create something similar to this, in your own tastes and wedding theme.
The inspiration from the shoot came from the beautiful Cath Kidston ‘look’. I wanted to keep the backgroud clean and white, with pops of bright mismatched colours and fabrics. I wanted to keep a spring and Easter feel to the shoot, and a countryside backdrop.
I really hope you find this useful in your planning, i will go on to explain different aspects of the shoot below, and for all the different components i have DIY tutorials, coming soon ;-) so stay tuned….
For the bouquet, i stayed with seasonal spring flowers, including ranunculus, tulips, stocks, hyacinths, grape hyacinths, peonies and some others… i also scavenged foliage from my parent’s garden, they were hand tied into a natural shaped posy with assorted ribbons. Using seasonal flowers keep the costs low, the flowers came to £24 before i went mad and brought a peony for £6, for one stem!!
This is me with the bouquet, in my own clothes… the dress from Primark, which is in stores now, only cost me £15. I accessorised it with bright mismatching accessories and a hand made felt heart to complete the look.
G modelled the hand maid boutonniere for me below :-) Made from left over fabric, twine and ribbon, it’s so simple to make. You can totally change the look depending on the fabric you choose, look out for the DIY tutorial coming soon :-)
And here we have the main part of the shoot. Below is the wedding table, complete with spring flowers in tin cans, a ‘flag’ garland, felt hearts, egg cups, doilies, patchwork table runner, mismatched napkins and of course the furniture, all our own…
Below are the place settings and wedding favours, i decided to use egg cups for favours, for an Easter feel. Painted, with yellow bakers twine, and hand stitched name tags. They sit on doilies and mismatched napkins. Again, a full tutorial of how to recreate this coming soon :-)
I wanted to get creative with felt, and i love these pastel felt hearts. Scatter them around, prop them on sticks and put them in your flowers, the possibilities are endless. Full instructions on how to make them will be coming soon….
For flowers, it seems that it ends up expensive finding or hiring vases or containers. For an inexpensive idea i used tin cans, fully customised of course ;-) hehe! I tied some ribbon around them, and filled them with spring blooms.
I also made a patchwork table runner, without any sewing skills required… promise ;-) I think it worked really well.
I borrowed some mismatched chairs from my parents and tied a simple piece of ribbon around them for a touch of cuteness ;-)
This cute garland was so easy to make, using the left over fabric from the table runner… if you have surplus supplies, find ways of re using it ;-) It was threaded with the gorgeous yellow bakers twine. Again i will be showing you how to make this soon :-)
And now onto the dessert table of course!! No wedding would be complete without one. G and I made the main cake and the cake pops, while my amazing mum made the cupcakes. They were really easy and inexpensive to make. Don’t worry about them looking perfect, the homemade rustic look is just lovely.
I made the cake topper from scratch and yep you guessed it, there is a tutorial coming soon ;-) hehe!! I think it came out great, and of course you can customise the words you use.
I sooo love these cute heart straws, aren’t they perfect! I brought them from Pipii.
So there you have it. This little project i have been working on the past 6 or so weeks, crafting away and planning. I have worked so very hard and i am really pleased with the outcome. Do feel free to print off anything you find inspiring and use it for your wedding folder, or link to the blog from your site if you like :-) I hope this has said a big thank you back to you all for all the support this year, and shown all i have learnt from this beautiful industry.
Thank you so very much to G and my gorgeous mum for helping. I have to mention my wonderful local florist, Claire from Hello Flower, for providing invaluable advice, and gorgeous blooms :-)
Bloggers… if you would like to feature the shoot get in touch, or indeed if you would like to use one of my DIY tutorials…. at whim.wond.wed @ gmail.com
Please do leave some comment love, it would be amazing to hear your thoughts…. boy am i nervous ;-) Much love xoxo
