Katy and Leighton were married on the 19th February 2011 on a gloriously sunny day in Wales. Katy looks incredible in her wedding gown, i love her birdcage veil and those beautiful blooms she clutches. Leighton looks great in his modern suit and purple boots.
Thanks so very much to the amazing London based wedding photographer, Kinver Miles Photography for sharing her work, here is what she had to say about the day;
“Katy and Leighton got married a couple of weeks ago in a beautiful country house in the middle of a Welsh valley in Pembrokeshire, it was a stunning setting. Katy and Leighton are such an awesome couple and their day totally reflected their personalities, they have been together for 11 years but are still madly in love with each other, they totally rock. Thanks guys for inviting me along to photograph your wedding, it was an honour to capture such a special day.”
The Flowers…
Sarah Hudson of Stems from Sarah in Haverfordwest did our flowers and she was so helpful. After a brief bridezilla moment about having tulips the right colour purple we totally changed track and chose purple lisianthus, cram tulips and ranunculus, which we had never heard of but now love. In my bouquet I also had freesias (mum’s favourite) and some sea lavender.
The Proposal….
It wasn’t exactly a “traditional” proposal more of a well it seems like a good idea, shall we? But it was still an exciting moment, and I think I’d waited long enough, we have been together nearly 11 years.
The Vision for the day….
The only thing that mattered to us that it be about family and close friends, simple and small with a proper party in the evening with disco and drum n bass, no cheesy music allowed!
Beautiful bridesmaids…..
Suzy and Bethan, my two younger sisters were my bridesmaids and they were gorgeous. Suzy was also in charge of making sure I didn’t get drunk on bubbly before the ceremony, which she did very well. I got their dresses from Monsoon because I wanted them to have something they could wear again, they looked lovely and were both taller than me in their heels!
The Planning process….
We were far too laid back to begin with but things came together quite quickly and we knew we wanted to keep it simple. We got engaged in July 2010 so we didn’t have masses of time so were surprisingly organised, which isn’t like us. We had loads of help from our families too.
Budget….
As little as possible! We didn’t want and couldn’t go overboard so we were very careful but didn’t miss out. We were really lucky to have help from our parents too.
The Readings + Music….
We chose music for the ceremony that was special to us, particularly the Super Furry Animals’ Fire in my Heart. I had never heard it until I met Leighton and we have both loved it ever since. In the evening we roped in all out DJ friends and Honey Fungus, an amazing husband and wife duo we know also performed, they were all brilliant. And of course Leighton had to DJ too, he loves it and his disco tunes went down a storm.
Pop by this afternoon for the gorgeous reception :-) xoxo
